You now have a more efficient route to Merdeka 118 thanks to the opening of the new Belfield Tunnel. The tunnel is an infrastructure project by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PMVSB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) which is designed to ease congestion and enhance accessibility to the world’s second tallest building. Merdeka 118

The Belfield Tunnel, a little over a kilometer in length, is Malaysia’s second two-storey tunnel, constructed exclusively to cater to vehicles accessing Merdeka 118. This strategic addition offers an alternative entry and exit point for the skyscraper, and streamlines traffic flow to mitigate congestion within the city centre.

“We are pleased to open the Belfield Tunnel, a vital link that will make visiting Merdeka 118 and its surrounding landmarks, including Stadium Merdeka, more convenient than ever,” stated Dato’ Tengku Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer of PMVSB. “Our goal is to provide a seamless and stress-free journey into the city, ensuring easier access for everyone. With ample parking for up to 8,000 cars, we look forward to welcoming people from all walks of life, from business professionals to shoppers and tourists to experience all that Merdeka 118 has to offer once we are fully open.”  Merdeka 118_Belfield Tunnel_Road_Kuala Lumpur

You can now access the Belfield Tunnel via dedicated entry points on Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Damansara, which lead directly into Basement Car Park 4 of Menara Merdeka 118. For departures, you will exit from Basement Car Park 5 through 2 designated exits i.e. Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Istana.

This access point is expected to alleviate traffic bottlenecks on key city roads and improve overall traffic flow around the Merdeka 118 precinct, specifically reducing congestion on Jalan Hang Jebat, Jalan Hang Tuah, and Jalan Maharajalela. Merdeka 118_Belfield Tunnel Entrance_Kuala Lumpur

The opening of the Belfield Tunnel represents a significant connectivity upgrade that promises a seamless and convenient experience when accessing Merdeka 118 for business, leisure, or tourism purposes. The tunnel will also cater to future guests of Malaysia’s only Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, slated to open in Q2 2025, as well as the upcoming 118 Mall which is scheduled to launch in Q2 2026. This tunnel will ensure a smoother entry to the luxury hospitality and retail experience upon their launches.
