XPeng X9 Launched In Malaysia: Seven-Seater All-Electric MPV From RM270k

Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd has officially launched the XPeng X9 for the Malaysian market. This marks the debut of the brand’s flagship seven-seater MPV built on XPeng’s advanced SEPA 2.0 architecture. There are 3 variants to choose from:

• Xpeng X9 Standard Range 2WD Pro: RM270,708
• Xpeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro: RM288,708
• Xpeng X9 Long Range 2WD Pro Plus: RM300,708

Futuristic Exterior, Spacious Interior

The XPeng X9 sports a sleek and futuristic look with its distinctive “Starship” frame and featuring the brand’s signature “Robot Face” fascia with a seamless LED daytime running light. A crystal grille paired with an Active Grille Shutter (AGS) system enhances aerodynamics, while its floating roof and coupe-style rear windshield add to its modern appeal.

The list of standard feature is quite extensive and includes LED auto sensing high beams and dipped headlights, headlight height adjustment, electric hidden door handles, panoramic canopy, acoustic glass (windshield, first & 2nd rows, sunroof), privacy glass (from 2nd row back), electric tailgate, and 3.3 kW V2L.

Inside, the X9 offers a luxurious, high-tech experience reminiscent of a starship cockpit. A 21.4″ entertainment screen, customisable ambient lighting, and a 23-speaker X-Opera Sound System provide a premium experience. These are complemented by the wood veneer as well as the aluminium air vents.

Furthermore, the flexible cabin layout allows the X9 to transform from a 7-seater to a spacious 4-seater with a single click of a switch, opening up cargo space to 2,554 litres, from 755 litres. In relative terms, this will accommodate up to a dozen 20″ suitcases.

Features like 18-way adjustable Zero Gravity seats (Long Range Pro Plus only), 2nd row seats with massage, heating / ventilation and memory functions, electric 3rd-row adjustment system, and a built-in smart refrigerator further enhance convenience. Notable standard features include leather steering wheel, 50-watt air-cooled wireless phone charger (front), 1 USB Type A port, 5 USB Type C ports, and 5-zone intelligent constant temperature control system (with air purification and CN95 filter).

The Long Range Pro Plus variant adds on a fragrance system to its climate control system, along with dual 50-watt wireless phone chargers for the 2nd row seats.

The infotainment system is powered by a Snapdragon 8295 chipset and includes a 17.3″ central control screen and a 21.4″ smart screen with remote, as well as a 10.25″ digital dashboard. This system offers smart navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, App Library, Over-The-Air updates, Meditation and Welcome modes, as well as the “Hey XPeng” voice assistant (5 zone detection).

Performance & Safety Features

Equipped with a world-first active rear-wheel steering system and intelligent dual-chamber air suspension, the X9 achieves an agile 5.4-metre turning diameter, making tight parking and U-turns effortless. The suspension system will automatically adjust spring stiffness based on road conditions for a more comfortable riding experience.

Powering the MPV are 2 battery options:

• Standard Range Variant: 84.5 kWh LFP battery, 500 km range, 235 kW (315 hp), 450 Nm torque
• Long Range Variants: 101.5 kWh NMC battery, 590 km range, same power output

Top speed maxes out at 200 km/h for all variants while 0 – 100 km/h sprint times are the same (7.7 seconds) across the range despite the Standard variant being 50 kg heavier at 2,640 kg mainly due to the different battery construction.

Its 800V high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) platform is standard across the variants and supports ultra-fast DC charging up to 317 kW (Standard Range is 283 kW max). With an energy and thermal management system, this allows for a 10 – 80% charge in just 20 minutes. As for 11 kW AC charging, it will take 9.5 hours and 11 hours respectively to get from 5 – 100%.

Safety also comes in the form of an front and rear integrated die-cast aluminum body structure (a world’s first for a 7-seater battery electric MPV). The X9 also features the XPilot 2.5 system Driver Assistance System featuring Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Centering Control, Adaptive Turning Cruise, Active Lane Change, and more. This system has 27 intelligent driving sensors and is powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-X chipset.

For parking, the X9 offers Enhanced Auto Parking Assist (EAP 2.0), Auto Exit Parking Assist (AEP), and Straight Summon, all accessible via the XPeng mobile app for effortless manoeuvering.

Availability & Warranty

The XPeng X9 is available as a fully imported unit with 3 exterior colours choices i.e. Nebula White, Crescent Silver, and Dark Night Black. For there interior, there are 2 colour options i.e. Starry Night Black and Moon Shadow Brown. The Standard and Long Range Pro come with leatherette upholstery while the Long Range Pro Plus has premium full-grain Nappa leather Zero Gravity Seats.
