Chery Teams Up With DeepSeek To Enhance AI In Aimoga Robots

Chery is ramping up its AI (artificial intelligence) game with a strategic partnership between its Aimoga Robotics division and leading AI company, DeepSeek. The collaboration aims to significantly enhance the voice interaction capabilities of Chery’s Aimoga robots, marking another step forward in the automaker’s ambitious AI strategy.

This partnership builds upon the foundation laid by Chery’s Lion intelligent cockpit system, dubbed the “Lion AI Large Model,” highlighting the company’s commitment to, and investment in, AI technology over the past 15 years. Chery_Voice Assistant_Lion OS

The key to this collaboration lies in DeepSeek’s use of powerful NVIDIA H800 chips, coupled with its open-source approach, which provides complete transparency in model weights and training logs under the MIT open-source protocol. Chery sees this cost-effective and open methodology as perfectly aligned with its own R&D philosophy of “technology for the benefit of all.”

Chery Aimoga robots are leveraging DeepSeek’s V2, V3, and R1 open-source models within their robot cloud platform. This technology powers the interaction systems for the robots deployed in Chery dealerships in China, assisting with marketing and customer service.

The next phase involves real-world testing of Chery’s robot hardware. These trials will move beyond controlled environments and simulations to assess performance, functionality, and reliability in various real-life scenarios.

Chery also plans to deepen its collaboration with DeepSeek, as well as other leading AI enterprises across different sectors, to push the boundaries of robotics applications and unlock further innovation opportunities.Chery Aimoga_Robotic Pets_Chery Showroom

Chery’s journey into the AI world began in 2010, strategically building an interconnected intelligent technology base in collaboration with industry giants like Baidu and iFlytek. This led to the launch of CheryLion in 2018, marking the company’s full-fledged entry into the AI domain. The ambitious development of humanoid robots followed in 2020, culminating in the global debut of the Aimoga robot brand and its self-developed robots and robotic pets in 2023.

In 2024, Chery announced a plan to mass produce Aimoga robots, injecting a significant investment of RMB100 million (approximately RM60 million) into the project. This marks the culmination of 15 years of meticulous progress, moving from research and development to production and deployment, solidifying Chery’s position as a true AI innovator. Chery_Robotic Pet

The collaboration between Chery Robotics and DeepSeek is not just about improving voice interaction; it’s about shaping Chery’s vision for the AI era, characterised by an open ecosystem and pushing the boundaries of applications through scenario-driven innovation.

This forward-thinking approach has contributed to Chery’s remarkable achievement of leading China’s automotive export market for 22 consecutive years. In 2023, the Chery Group achieved record-breaking sales of 2,603,916 vehicles, a marked 38.4% increase year-on-year, with exports reaching 1,144,588 units, a 21.4% jump from 2023.

Currently, Chery vehicles are available in over 80 countries and regions worldwide, with a growing presence in more than 10 European markets, establishing it as one of the most popular Chinese automotive brands on a global scale.

Looking ahead, Chery plans to introduce its humanoid robots to overseas markets in the first half of 2025, initially focusing on their role in car sales assistance. The company envisions a future where the internet and automotive intelligence converge to create an intelligent mobility ecosystem centered on human-robot-vehicle collaboration. This ambitious vision ultimately aims to transform vehicles into home-based intelligent terminals, reinforcing Chery’s pioneering role in the AI-driven future of mobility.
