Shell Malaysia And Visa Team Up For Contactless Payments At Shell Recharge Locations
Shell Malaysia, through its wholly owned subsidiary ParkEasy, has entered into a partnership with Visa to make contactless payment terminals available at selected Shell Recharge locations in the Klang Valley. This move aims to streamline the EV charging experience, allowing users to pay for their charging sessions with credit or debit cards directly at the charging stations.
ParkEasy which operates the Shell Recharge network in Malaysia have installed card terminals at 4 prominent Shell Recharge sites i.e. Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, and Pavilion Damansara Heights. Both Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) chargers at these locations are equipped with the new payment system.
EV drivers can now just park at their chosen charging bay, select the corresponding bay number on the terminal, and tap their credit or debit card on the contactless reader to initiate payment. Each charging session will have a pre-authorisation amount of RM150 applied when using the terminal.
In conjunction with the launch of this collaboration, Visa cardholders can enjoy a 10% cashback (capped at RM5 per session) when paying for EV charging at these selected Shell Recharge terminals between 15 January and 30 June 30. In addition, ParkEasy app users will also receive a 10% credit rebate (capped at 5 credits per rebate) when topping up their ParkEasy account with a minimum of 50 credits using a Visa card.
“Shell Malaysia’s collaboration with Visa marks a significant step towards further enhancing the convenience of EV charging for our customers,” said Seow Lee Ming, General Manager, Mobility Malaysia. “By enabling Visa card payments at our Shell Recharge sites and giving attractive rebates for top-ups with a Visa card, we are making it easier for customers to access and pay for charging services, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable experience.”
Previn Pillay, Head of Global Acquirers at Visa Asia Pacific, added, “Visa is committed to supporting the growth of contactless payments and exploring new use cases such as EV charging. Our partnership with Shell Malaysia and ParkEasy to enable contactless card payment terminals at Shell Recharge sites is a testament to this commitment. We are excited to bring this convenience to EV users and making their charging experience seamless and rewarding.”
