Exclusive distributor of Dongfeng Motor vehicles in Malaysia, Central Auto Distributors Bhd (CADB), has officially launched the brand’s first fully electric vehicle (EV) here i.e. Dongfeng Box. CADB is a subsidiary of PEKEMA (Association of Malay Importers and Traders of Motor Vehicles Malaysia).
The Dongfeng Box is a compact electric vehicle designed to provide practicality, innovative technology, and affordability particularly for urban drivers. It is available in 2 variants, with retail prices starting at RM100,000, and offers a new zero-emission alternative for consumers.
Variants and Pricing
The Dongfeng Box comes in 2 variants:
- Dongfeng Box E2 @ RM100,000
- Dongfeng Box E3 @ RM113,000
The prices quoted are retail prices and do not include registration, insurance, etc. There are 4 exterior colours available i.e. White, Purple, Green, and Blue. The Box E3 will come with a White roof option. Interior colours are a choice of Black/Gray or Black/White combinations. Choosing the Purple exterior colour will also net you a Purple/Black interior.
The Box is the first model developed on the Dongfeng Quantum Architecture S3 platform, and has physical measurements of 4,020 mm (length), 1,810 mm (width), and 1,570 mm (height). Its wheelbase is 2,663 mm long.
Warranty coverage is 8 years (or 150,000 km) for the high-voltage battery and 5 years (150,000 km) for key vehicle components.
Performance and Range
Fitted with the Mach E 10-in-1 Class-Leading High Energy Efficiency system, the Dongfeng Box delivers 70 kW (94 hp) of power and 160 Nm of torque. The Box E3 variant offers a driving range of up to 430 km (CLTC – China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) on a single charge, supported by 42.3 kWh lithium ion battery. For convenience, fast charging enables a 30% – 80% charge in just 30 minutes via DC charging. The Box E2 variant on the other hand, has a smaller 31.45 kWh battery pack which provides a range of up to 330 km (CLTC). Top speed of the vehicle is capped at 140 km/h.
Interior And Safety Features
Though the Box’s body is compact, the relatively long wheelbase provided designers with the freedom to maximise the interior layout. With space utilisation rate of around 66%, the Box gives occupants more practical functionality. However, the rear seat design has been simplified with fixed headrests and no centre armrest.
Other interior features include high-grade leather upholstery with a diamond pattern design, 32-colour ambient lighting system, frameless rearview mirror, wireless charging pad, one-button lie-flat mode for the driver seat, and 12.8” floating central touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Further, in place of a conventional glove box is a sliding drawer.
The Dongfeng Box is fitted with a suite of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) including automatic emergency braking and intelligent cruise control, as well as an automatic parking feature. There is also a Vehicle-to-Load capability (V2L) for plugging in small appliances.
