Chery Omoda E5 Secures Euro NCAP & ANCAP 5-Star Safety Ratings

Chery’s Omoda E5 has earned 5-star safety ratings from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) as well as from the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP). This achievement highlights Chery’s strong commitment to safety and innovation, extending the legacy of the Omoda 5, its internal combustion engine (ICE) variant, which also achieved top safety ratings in 2022, as well as a 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP this year. The Omoda E5, as a battery electric vehicle (BEV), continues this path of safety excellence by retaining the 5-star rating through additional safety evaluations.

The independent safety assessments conducted by Euro NCAP and ANCAP highlights the Omoda E5’s solid performance in key areas such as Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, and Safety Assist. These ratings reflect the comprehensive safety features integrated into the vehicle, including advanced airbag systems that is precisely calibrated for deployment to maximise protection for both adults and children. Designed with family safety in mind, the Omoda E5 also features child seat interfaces engineered for secure and stable installation, ensuring peace of mind for parents.

Additional crash tests, including frontal offset and oblique pole evaluations, were also performed to evaluate the safety and integrity of the Omoda E5’s high-voltage battery. Further, its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system excelled in Vulnerable Road User (VRU) protection as well as Safety Assist (SA) tests. These test the vehicle’s capabilities in identifying potential hazards and responding quickly to mitigate collision risk. The Omoda E5’s system’s ability to accurately detect and react to targets across a wide range of speeds help secure it as having one of the best active safety performance in the EV segment.

The recognition from Euro NCAP and ANCAP builds upon the global safety reputation of the Omoda nameplate, with the ICE-powered Omoda 5 having previously earned five-star certifications from Euro NCAP, ANCAP, and ASEAN NCAP. This consistency underscores Chery’s dedication to delivering vehicles that meet the highest safety standards worldwide.
