Jaecoo Showcases Convenience And Benefits Of Plug-in Hybrid Technology With J7 PHEV
Jaecoo Malaysia recently unveiled its premium off-road SUV, the Jaecoo J7 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), to the Malaysian public through an experience pop-up store. Attracting over 3,000 visitors over 5 days, the event was a gauge for the growing interest in PHEVs and the public’s need for greater understanding of the technology. Jaecoo Malaysia leveraged this platform to highlight the convenience and advantages PHEVs provide to drivers, offering insights into how this technology can benefit everyday commutes as well as long-distance travel.
“Jaecoo is committed to leading the transition to cleaner, more efficient automotive solutions by offering innovative technology that meets the needs of the modern driver. Our PHEVs represent the next step in our journey toward a sustainable future,” said Chery Corporate Malaysia Executive Vice President, Leo Chen.
“Hand in hand with delivering best in class vehicles, we also believe in helping drivers in the market stay informed about the distinct advantages of electric and hybrid engines. This will greatly help drivers make informed decisions in choosing the most suitable vehicle based on their individual driving needs and styles,” added Jaecoo Malaysia Vice President, Emily Lek.
Key Advantages Of Plug-in Hybrids
Jaecoo aims to redefine the hybrid experience with its J7 PHEV, offering key advantages over traditional Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) through enhanced electric range, home charging capability, dual power benefits, and reduced environmental impact. Advantages include:
- Extended Range On Electric Power
- Compared to HEVs, which typically use smaller battery capacities, PHEVs like the J7 can cover greater distances on electric power alone. The Jaecoo J7 PHEV boasts an electric range of 88 km on a single charge (WLTP), making it ideal for daily commutes and urban driving with minimal usage of fuel. This extended range allows drivers to cover most city journeys entirely on electric power, providing a quieter and more emission-free experience.
- Convenient Home Charging Options
- A significant benefit of PHEVs is the option to charge at home or public charging stations. Unlike HEVs, which recharge only through regenerative braking or engine assistance, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV can be fully recharged overnight at home, allowing you to start each day with a ready-to-go electric range. This convenience translates to reduced fuel consumption, particularly for short, daily trips that can often be managed without petrol, and is most beneficial for those who live in landed property and have their own wallbox charger.
- Reducing Fuel Consumption In Urban Travel
- While HEVs typically switch to petrol after brief periods of electric operation, PHEVs allow for prolonged electric-only driving, thus significantly decreasing fuel usage for daily journeys. Jaecoo’s design gives you the freedom to choose between electric and petrol power, making the J7 an attractive choice for both city dwellers as well as those who frequently drive long journeys.
- Dual Power For Enhanced Performance
- The Jaecoo J7 hybrid system seamlessly transitions between electric and petrol power, providing enhanced acceleration and performance when needed. This flexibility makes it ideal for various driving situations, whether navigating steep inclines, overtaking, or for long-distance travel. With instant torque from the electric motor, you can enjoy a versatile, performance-driven experience without compromising efficiency.
- Lower Emissions, Greater Sustainability
- The Jaecoo J7 PHEV is designed with sustainability in mind, operating on electric power for extended durations to minimise reliance on its internal combustion engine. This makes it a more eco-friendly choice compared to HEVs, which still require frequent engine engagement. Additionally, a recent 1,300 km journey undertaken by the J7 PHEV in China by representatives from multiple countries including Malaysia, Italy, Mexico, and the UK, highlighted its impressive fuel efficiency, traveling on a single tank and full battery without needing a recharge.
In the Jaecoo J7 PHEV, drivers in Malaysia have choice of a hybrid vehicle that combines the best of both electric convenience and petrol reliability. The retail prices are estimated at around RM180,000 for the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant and RM170,000 for the 2-wheel drive (2WD) variant.
