PROTON Partners With Grab Malaysia To Offer Exclusive Benefits For E-Hailing Drivers Buying Proton Saga
PROTON and Grab Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Agreement recently to form a partnership to provide exclusive benefits for e-hailing drivers buying the Proton Saga. With the support of Grab’s extensive platform, PROTON aims to offer added value to the e-hailing sector and cater to the demand for reliable, cost-effective vehicles.
As part of this collaboration, PROTON announced the “Saga Power Up for Grab Drivers” campaign, an initiative offering Grab driver-partners exclusive cash rebates and a 5% discount on service fees for the first 2 years or up to 40,000 km. The campaign begins on 4 November 2024 and provides Grab drivers priority access to purchasing the Proton Saga, allowing qualified drivers to buy as many units as they wish, subject to Grab Malaysia’s criteria. Furthermore, Grab Malaysia is providing an additional RM500 incentive for new drivers who purchase a Proton Saga and activate their Grab Driver account. This support package enables drivers to lower operational costs, enhance driving reliability, and streamline their entry into the e-hailing market.
Since its debut in 1985, the Proton Saga has gained a reputation for durability, safety, and affordability, features essential for e-hailing drivers. With over 2 million units sold as of May 2024, the Proton Saga remains Malaysia’s top-selling model. The Saga’s design offers essential safety and convenience features, including ABS, electronic brake distribution, parking sensors, traction control, and an intuitive touchscreen, all at a competitive price point. For 2024, Saga sales have reached 54,066 units, marking a 5% increase over the prior year, affirming its popularity among Malaysian drivers.

Present along with Roslan were key representatives from both companies, including Grab Malaysia’s Director of Country Operations and Mobility Rashid Shukor, Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Vice President of Sales & After Sales at Proton Edar, and Tan Jiong Jian, Grab Malaysia’s Director of Commercial and Deliveries.
