Volvo EX30 Makes Malaysian Debut As Brand’s Most Advanced Electric SUV
Volvo Car Malaysia has introduced its latest fully electric SUV, the Volvo EX30, offering Malaysians cutting-edge technology, safety features, and an advanced sustainable design. Embodying Volvo’s vision of a safe and sustainable driving experience, the Volvo EX30 also represents the brand’s commitment to moving forward in a clean, efficient, and electrified future.
The EX30 stands out with its industry-leading technology, including Volvo’s fastest-ever acceleration, intelligent parking assistance, and Google’s built-in functionality. The model includes a new semi-autonomous Pilot Assist, which now optimises distance from large vehicles on highways, and a 360-degree environmental awareness system powered by multiple cameras and sensors.
High-Performance Variants
Volvo has launched 3 variants of the EX30 in Malaysia:
- EX30 Plus single-motor extended-range @ RM188,888
- EX30 Ultra single-motor extended-range @ RM208,888
- EX30 Ultra Twin Performance dual-motor with increased power and torque @ RM228,888
The top-end Volvo EX30 Ultra Twin variant, designed for those seeking ultimate performance, delivers 428 PS and 543 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The EX30 Plus and EX30 Ultra feature a single permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, generating 272 PS and 343 Nm, propelling them from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.
All 3 variants come equipped with a high-capacity 69 kWh NMC battery, providing up to 476 km of range (WLTP) for single-motor variants and 450 km for the Ultra Twin Performance. The EX30 also supports 175 kW DC fast charging, allowing a rapid 10 – 80% charge in 28 minutes. 
Premium Features Across The Range
Standard in all EX30 models are LED headlights, 19″ Diamond Cut alloy wheels, Volvo’s Pilot Assist, and Harman Kardon Premium Sound with a unique dashboard-integrated soundbar inspired by home audio design. Other premium touches include a powered tailgate, frameless auto-dimming side and rear-view mirrors, ambient interior themes, and a complete suite of Volvo’s advanced driver-assistance systems.
Customers opting for the Ultra variants gain additional features like Park Pilot Assist, 360-degree camera, power front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
The locally assembled Volvo EX30 comes in a range of exterior colours i.e. Cloud Blue, Vapour Grey, Crystal White, and Onyx Black. A special Moss Yellow, inspired by the Swedish west coast, is exclusively available for the Ultra variants for a limited period in Malaysia.
Safety & Innovation
With an urban-friendly design, the EX30 boasts innovative safety features to protect both its occupants and others on the road. In addition to Volvo’s full Safe Space Technology suite, the EX30 introduces new features like:

The system can identify parking spaces and control the vehicle’s acceleration, brakes, and steering to complete parking maneuvers.

Inside, the EX30 offers a clean, minimalist Scandinavian design with 5 ambient lighting themes, inspired by Swedish landscapes, that harmonise with ambient soundscapes. All variants for Malaysia come with a sporty Indigo interior featuring upcycled denim textiles, upholstery made from 100% recycled polyester and Nordico with recycled PET content, while plastic materials are made with 30% recycled content, showcasing Volvo’s commitment to sustainability.
Notably compact, the EX30 is designed for city navigation, with a low hood, wide headlights, and high ground clearance of 171 cm. Storage solutions have also been thoughtfully integrated, such as:
- Wireless phone charging with slots for 2 devices.
- Flexible central storage that can fit a handbag.
- Rear luggage space of 318 litres that expands to 718 litres with the 2nd-row split seats folded to easily accommodate golf bags, flat-pack furniture and baby strollers
- Large door pockets and a hidden rear storage space of 61 litres.
- A convenient “Will it Fit?” graphic on the power tailgate for ease of loading cargo.
The EX30 also stands as the only subcompact SUV to feature Google Built-in, along with wireless Apple AirPlay and a dedicated app for remote management of charging and settings.
