New MG HS SUV: Now Open For Booking

Alongside the MG5 sedan, SAIC Motor Malaysia Sdn Bhd also unveiled the MG HS SUV at a preview session. The addition of an SUV expands its model lineup, which includes a hatchback, sedan, EV, as it continues to expand its presence in the Malaysian automotive market. The expansion in Malaysia also coincides with MG’s 100th anniversary and is part of a broader strategy to offer vehicles that combine style, performance, and value at competitive prices.

Variants & Pricing

When launched, the MG HS will be available in 2 variants i.e. HS Standard and HS Lux. The estimated price is below RM130,000 for the HS Standard and below RM150,000 for the HS Lux. Both variants are powered by a 1.5L turbocharged direct injection petrol engine paired with a 7-speed twin clutch transmission and offers 162 PS (160 hp) @ 5,600 rpm and 250 Nm of torque @ 1,700 – 4,400 rpm. According to MG Malaysia, the powertrain is designed for a lifespan of up to 320,000 kilometers.

Exterior Design Features

The MG HS sports an aggressive and sharp exterior design. Key features include bi-functional LED headlights, a bold front grille, and a dual exhaust setup at the rear.

The MG HS Standard variant is fitted with:

Practicality & Cargo Space

The MG HS provides ample space with boot space capacity of 463 litres that expands to 1,278 litres when the rear seats are folded down. Additionally, the rear seat backrests have a 2-step recline.

Safety & Driver Assistance

Standard safety equipment includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Corner Brake Control, Active Rollover Protection, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control.

The Lux variant further enhances safety with the MG PILOT assistance system which includes Front Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assistance, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Door Opening Warning.

Warranty & Colours

Like the MG5, the MG HS is also covered by a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty on the vehicle and a 7-year unlimited mileage warranty on the powertrain (engine & transmission).

The MG HS is now available for booking and will come with a choice of Dynamic Red, Arctic White, Black Pearl, and Camden Grey exterior colours.
