SAIC Motor Malaysia Previews The MG5 B-Segment Sedan; Now Accepting Bookings
SAIC Motor Malaysia Sdn Bhd just hosted a preview of 2 new models set to officially enter Malaysia in a month or 2 i.e. MG5 sedan and MG HS SUV. These 2 will complement its current lineup of MG4 and MG ZS EV.

SAIC Motor Malaysia aims to use the all-new MG5 to make waves in the Malaysian automotive market. Standing out with its sporty fastback coupe design, this B-segment sedan will be available in a single variant and carry a price tag below RM100,000.
Sleek Exterior Design
The B-segment fastback body styling hides dimensions that make it the longest and widest in its segment. The MG5 measures 4,675 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, 1,480 mm in height, and boasts a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. Complementing its fastback silhouette are details like an integrated ducktail spoiler, an 3D front grille with side air inlets.
Its sporty stance is further enhanced by automatic LED headlights with DRL, LED signal lights mounted on the wing mirrors, a powered sunroof, rear diffuser and 17” Tomahawk alloy wheels. The tail lights are also LED units. Additionally, it manages to provide 401 litres of boot space.
Premium Interior & Cutting-Edge Technology
Within the cabin, the MG5 offers a spacious and driver-centric cabin. The driver gets to enjoy a 6-way electrically adjustable seat with manual lumbar support, a 7” digital virtual cockpit that is complemented by a 10.25” floating infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The 3-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel comes with red stitching and integrated switches for various functions, including cruise control.
Other convenient features in the cabin include climate control, PM2.5 air filtration, physical buttons on the dashboard, 6-speaker audio system, 4 USB ports (including one dedicated for driving recorder), 4-way adjustable powered sunroof, rear air vents, 60:40 folding rear seats and black leather upholstery with red trim.
Powerful Performance & Comprehensive Safety
Under the hood, the MG5 is powered by a 1.5L DOHC 4-cylinder 16-valve VTi-tech petrol engine which delivers 114 PS (112 hp) @ 6,000 rpm and 150 Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm. This is paired with an 8-speed iCVT transmission and enables the MG5 to offer a fuel efficiency rating of 17.5km/l; official 0 – 100 km/h sprint is done in 11.5 seconds. According to SAIC, this powertrain promises reliability, having undergone a rigorous 2.35 million kilometers of durability testing.
Safety is a top priority for the MG, with the MG5 coming equipped with a 360-degree view camera as well as the MG PILOT driver assist safety system. This includes features such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Collision Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Additional safety measures include Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction and Cornering Brake Controls, and 6 SRS airbags.
Warranty & Colours
The MG5 comes with a comprehensive warranty package, offering 5 years of unlimited mileage coverage on the vehicle and 7 years of unlimited mileage coverage on the powertrain (engine and transmission).
The car will be available in 5 colours i.e. Nuclear Yellow, Dynamic Red, Arctic White, Black Pearl, and Camden Grey.
