Scania Launches New Super Truck And New Bus Generation With Enhanced Fuel Efficiency And Digital Solutions
Scania has launched its latest innovations in the commercial vehicle sector i.e. the new Super truck series as well as its New Bus Generation (NBG) platform. These vehicles offer significant improvements in fuel economy, with the Super truck achieving up to 8% better fuel efficiency and the NBG up to 9%. Both the Super and NBG are FAME-prepared (Fatty Acid Methyl Esters a.k.a. biodiesel) up to B100, and could enable a reduction in CO2 emissions by up to 80% to support customers’ ESG goals.
The Scania Super truck features an advanced and efficient combustion-engine powertrain which offers customers notable fuel savings. With a robust design that extends operational life by 30%. the truck’s 13L engine is capable of delivering up to 550 hp. The Super truck also has industry-leading brake thermal efficiency of 50%, which is exceptional in the heavy truck industry. Designed with Scania’s low-rev concept in mind, the truck also provides a smoother drive with peak engine torque available from jut 900 rpm. The Opticruise gearbox also offers faster, smoother gear changes, with a wider gear spread, as well as improved driver comfort and control. Safety features have also been upgraded, with the inclusion of side curtain airbags and steering wheel airbag, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake System (EBS), and Traction Control (TC). Driver comfort is further enhanced by a new suspension seat with dual armrests.
Meanwhile, buyers of the Scania New Bus Generation can get up to 9% fuel savings without compromising performance, thanks to enhanced engine efficiency and improved cruise control with active prediction. The NBG is designed to provide a superior driving and passenger experience, featuring a reinforced chassis for safety, advanced driver assistance systems (Lane Departure Warning is now standard to complement ABS, EBS and TC), and a highly ergonomic driver area. The passenger experience is enhanced with a forgiving suspension, smooth gearbox transmission, an efficient climate control system, and a low-noise environment.

Alongside the launch of the new truck and bus is the Scania Driver App. The app integrates drivers into the My Scania digital ecosystem. Through this app, the driver’s administrative tasks are also streamlined to enhance fleet management by simplifying workflows, storing checklists and defect reports. 
”The driver is the single most important asset of the transport system. The launch of Driver App will put the power of data in the hands of drivers of Scania trucks and buses. Drivers, partnering with Operators, are in better control of their driving towards a more fuel-efficient, safer and environmentally-friendly drive,” said Joyce.
