Volkswagen Malaysia Launches Exclusive Golf GTI Edition 50; Priced At RM267,990

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has launched the Golf GTI Edition 50, a limited edition model celebrating 50 years of the iconic Golf. Priced at RM267,990, this special edition comes with the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) which includes 5 years of maintenance, an unlimited mileage warranty, and roadside assistance for the same duration.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 stands out with a host of exclusive features, including an Oettinger body kit, new rims, black side mirror caps, and unique Edition 50 emblems. The exterior is further enhanced with sporty side decorative films inspired by the GTI’s signature honeycomb design, “Edition 50” VW Tint, and “50” emblems on the B-pillars, adding a distinctive touch to this special model.

The Oettinger body kit includes a black front spoiler, roof spoiler, and diffuser which not only enhance the car’s aesthetics but also contribute to its performance. The 18″ ‘Pretoria’ light alloy wheels, finished in high-gloss black, are fitted with “GTI” Dynamic wheel hub caps and VW Design aluminium valve caps, completing the GTI Edition 50’s sporty look.

Inside, the Golf GTI Edition 50 features a range of upgrades that set it apart from the regular GTI. Notable highlights include a “50” emblem on the multi-function sport steering wheel, “Edition 50” aluminium side scuff plates, and custom front carpet mats. The special edition is available in 2 exclusive colours i.e. Oryx White and Moonstone Grey.

Under the hood, the GTI Edition 50 shares the regular Golf GTI’s powertrain i.e. a 2.0L TSI turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed wet clutch DSG that delivers 245 PS (242 hp) and 370 Nm of torque. This hot hatch also features a premium 10-speaker, 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system, a 10″ Discover Media infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 10.25″ digital instrument display.

In terms of safety features, the Golf GTI Edition 50 includes Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE technology which features advanced driver assistance systems such as Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, and a head-up display.

Since it was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1975, the VW Golf GTI continues to be one of the most beloved hatchbacks worldwide, with almost 5 decades and 8 generations under its belt. The GTI Edition 50 will be on display at the upcoming Golf Fan Fest on 24 August 2024 at the Sepang International Circuit’s North Paddock. It will also be available for viewing at Volkswagen dealerships starting from 17 August 2024.
