Following the successful launch the smart #3 open booking, smart Malaysia has started an innovative partnership with the University of Wollongong Malaysia to launch a short video competition targeted at university students. The aim is to foster innovation within the EV industry and promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.

‘Electrifying The Future’ to Inspire Creative Thinkers

The competition, themed ‘Electrifying The Future,’ aims to inspire and empower the next generation of creative thinkers, strategic visionaries, and problem solvers to reimagine and express the future of mobility through storytelling. smart Malaysia, recognised as an emerging key player in EV education and career development, continues to advance EV education by recruiting sales specialists and empowering team members to become experts in the EV ecosystem. Competition Details

Students from the University of Wollongong Malaysia are invited to submit their most imaginative videos on the topic: “What do you think the world will be like when electric cars become the norm?”. This competition aims to discover and nurture creative content creators who can envision and articulate the future of sustainable mobility.

Professor Dr. Hiew Pang Leang, Vice Chancellor of the University of Wollongong Malaysia, welcomed the partnership, stating, “This partnership builds on the University of Wollongong Malaysia’s commitment to empowering future talents, which not only aligns with our dedication to academic excellence and innovation but also provides our students with invaluable industry exposure and opportunities in the rapidly evolving EV sector. The initiative enables students to apply their learnings and engage in discussions on how we can promote environmental sustainability while putting their creative capabilities to the test.”smart_#3

Key Dates and Submission Criteria

The competition started on 31 May 2024, with over 100 students attending a briefing. Open to students and teams of 3 to 4 from the University of Wollongong Malaysia, participants must submit their 2 – 3 minute videos by 7 August 2024. Submissions will be judged by representatives from both organisations based on creativity, originality, relevance to the theme, storytelling effectiveness, and overall production quality.

Prizes and Opportunities

The grand prize winner will receive RM5,000 per team, 2nd place will be awarded RM4,000, and 3rd place will receive RM3,000. Additionally, an Honourable Mention Prize of RM1,000 per team and a social media Most Likes and Shares Prize of RM1,000 will be given. Winners and students from the University of Wollongong Malaysia will also have the opportunity to participate in an internship program with smart Malaysia. The winners will be announced in October 2024 at a prize-giving ceremony.

The competition not only challenges students to produce engaging and visionary content but also offers an exceptional pathway to career development through an exclusive internship program with PRO-NET. This programme is designed to pave the way to employment in the burgeoning new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, subject to a qualification process.
