The Great Wall Motor (GWM) Tank 300 is now available for booking in Malaysia. This off-road SUV will be sold as CBU (completely built up) from China with an estimated price of RM250,000. The official launch will be soon and the first deliveries to customers are expected in July 2024.
The GWM Tank 300 is powered by a 2.0L turbo petrol engine that is paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, and offers 220 PS (217 hp) and 380 Nm of torque. This combination is said to offer smooth urban driving as well as off-road prowess, supported by an all-terrain control system with 9 driving modes, crawl control mode, and tank turn capability. The SUV’s dual-speed electronically-controlled part-time 4-wheel drive (4WD) system switches seamlessly between 2-wheel drive (2WD) and 4-wheel drive (4WD) modes. The Tank 300 can handle ramp angles of 23.1° and a maximum gradability of 70%. It also boasts a wading depth of up to 700 mm. Additionally, its body has ultra-high-strength rating of 1,500 MPa.
Obviously, the TANK 300 has a robust exterior designed to attract off-road enthusiasts, while the interior offers a luxurious experience with refinements such as Nappa leather seats. Drivers will appreciate the 8-way adjustable driver seat and the immersive sound from the 9 INFINITY speakers. The SUV also ensures a quiet ride with its Ultra Quiet NVH and Double-Layer Soundproof Acoustic Glass.
Furthermore, GWM has equipped the Tank 300 with advanced Level 2 Driving Assistance. This system includes Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Highway Assist (HWA). For the occupants, the 12.3″ infotainment display has anti-dazzle and anti-reflection properties and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other safety features include Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a 360-degree surround view monitor with Transparent Chassis Function. In the event of an accident, the vehicle’s Automatic Collision Unlocking and Automatic Collision Fuel Cutoff functions activate as an extra safety feature that helped it earn a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
“Safety has been a vital element in GWM’s design language,” said Mike Cui Anqi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia. “Even for off-road SUVs that cater to a group of thrill-seeking adventurers, we still ensure they can smoothly operate their vehicles in a leisurely manner.”
For the first 300 buyers of the GWM Tank 300, they will receive a special package which includes a 5-year (or 100,000 km) free service package, a lifetime powertrain warranty with unlimited mileage for the first owner, and a mystery gift at the official launch. “Warranties and gifts are more than just showing appreciation to our loyal customers,” Mike Cui added. “They are part of our promise to deliver a satisfactory post-sales service that can ease our customers’ worries.” GWM’s Tank has been the No. 1 SUV brand in China for 39 consecutive months.
