The most obvious change is on the outside. The 2024 Mazda CX-5 gets a refreshed design that still captures the essence of Mazda’s KODO – Soul of Motion design philosophy, and looking refined and sophisticated. The exterior showcases crafted surfaces that take advantage of light and shadows to emphasise a robust shape especially in the front and rear.

The restyled fascia features 3-dimensional elements, and redesigned LED signature headlamps for a bold and assertive impression to highlight its width. The front grille is positioned above a subtly redesigned lower bumper with a smaller centre intake to creates a sense of depth. Further, the signature wing that extends outwards from the grille has been restyled with surface forms rather than lines. Likewise, the rear also features redesigned oblong LED tail lights to emphasise a planted stance. Additionally, the 17″ and 19″ alloy wheels (depending variant) have also been updated with new styling.

Underneath these visual enhancements is Mazda’s Skyactiv Vehicle Architecture technologies, polished further to provide a more natural and comfortable driving experience through improvements in the body, suspension, and seats.

The updated chassis has increased rigidity of the lateral frame near its body centre, with damping wellbond structure for vibration suppression and better manoeuvrability. The improved springs and dampers further contribute to better ride comfort, driving quality, and reduced NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). They help to reduce the occupants’ heads from pitching forward when going over bumps. Mazda_Skyactiv Body_Frame

Complementing this is the redesigned seats which reduce the occupants’ body sway In pursuit of a natural driving experience, Mazda has redesigned the CX-5 seats, aiming to reduce body sway through the optimising of the seat structure and how the entire seat cushion surface flexes when sat in. Moreover, the seat holds the occupants’ spine in an S-shaped curve, allowing the spine to flex in response to vibration transmitted from the pelvis in order to stabilise the occupants’ heads. These advancements are part of Mazda’s Human Centric Development to deliver a smoother, quieter, and more comfortable experience for both driver and occupants.

Besides driving comfort, there are also creature comfort features in the new Mazda CX-5, including Qi wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay via the 8″ infotainment display, LED interior lighting, and auto-folding side mirrors, which are standard across all models.

Additionally, variant-specific enhancements include Mazda’s Advanced Keyless Entry for the 2.0L Mid variant, paddle shifters and redesigned LED signature headlamps for the 2.0L High variants and above, and driver and front passenger ventilated seats for extra comfort in the 2.5L variant and above.Fusion TIFF File

Furthermore, the Mazda CX-5 2.5T AWD variant features Mi-Drive, offering 3 driving modes (Normal, Sport, and Off-Road) to optimise driving capability based on varying conditions. The Off-Road mode optimises system control characteristics for high traction performance, smooth traction control, automatic transmission control for smooth and continuous torque, and engine idling speed to maximise climbing ability.

In terms of safety, the Mazda CX-5 earned the IIHS 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK. The CX-5 2.0L High variants and above are now equipped with i-Activsense Advanced Driver Assist Safety features which includes Smart Brake Support (SBS), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC, with Stop & Go), and Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS).
