Jaecoo J7 Shows Off Its Off-Roading Capability At M4TREC

The Jaecoo J7 is currently making its rounds on the preview circuit pending its official launch in Malaysia in the middle of the year. Recently, the Jaecoo J7 took to the Malaysia 4WD Training and Experience Centre (M4TREC) to show off its off-roading capability.

M4TREC is a leading 4WD training centre and is renowned for its world-class 4WD obstacle course with complex and challenging off-roading terrain that tests the skills of the driver and vehicle. Coupled with Malaysia’s well-known rain intensity, the tests at M4TREC serve as a demanding assessment of a vehicle’s off-road performance. ?????

To ensure a thorough assessment of the Jaecoo J7, M4TREC’s experienced trainers set up a variety of challenging obstacles for testing. This includes roller ramps, articulation tests, ridge crossings, steep slope descents and more. Through these multitude of tests, the J7 exhibited peer-leading ability to get out of tough road conditions as well as high impact resistance and effortless manoeuvring through obstacles. ?????

As Jaecoo’s first premium urban off-road SUV, the J7 runs with a 1.6L TGDI turbo engine that delivers 197 PS (145 kW) and a peak torque of 290 Nm. These figures put it on par with other luxury brands’ 2.0L turbocharged engines. In addition, the J7 is fitted with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT) which enables lightning-fast gear shifts in a brief 0.2 seconds. The seamless and smooth shifting of the gears ensure optimal delivery of engine power.

The J7 makes use of the advanced All Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS) which allows for 4WD intervention at a near instantaneous 0.1 seconds. Moreover, the application of the Integrated Power Brake (IPB) system brings forth 8 key advantages, including high integration, faster braking, no performance decay, and automatic intervention. These advancements significantly elevate the safety measures and driving comfort of the J7, enabling it to easily navigate through various road conditions and unexpected situations. Furthermore, the J7 features a rigid chassis that allows it to handle the moose test at 80 km/h. This further ensures excellent stability and handling performance as well as a high degree of safety on the road.

The Jaecoo J7 5-seater SUV has a 2,672 mm wheelbase and a body measuring 4,500 mm long, 1,865 mm wide, and 1,680 mm tall. Its ground clearance is 200 mm and its water wading capability is 600 mm. ?????

“The J7’s remarkable off-road capabilities have left us astounded, exemplified by its seamless navigation through the rugged and demanding terrains at M4TREC,” said an M4TREC certified instructor.

Guided by its brand philosophy of “From Classic, Beyond Classic,” the Jaecoo J7 has the ambition to be a premium urban SUV that is capable of off-roading performance. Through this demanding off-road test, the J7 demonstrates its stability and reliability over challenging terrain, showing off that it has the versatility and ability when it is needed.
