GWM Malaysia Confirms Arrival Of Ora 07 In First Quarter 2024
GWM Malaysia has confirmed that the Ora 07 will be arriving in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2024. Designed and built by Great Wall Motor (GWM) through a globalised research, development, production, and manufacturing system, the Ora 07 coupe (or fastback) is a new energy vehicle meant for global markets.
“We are thrilled to bring the Ora 07 to Malaysia, reinforcing our commitment to providing our customers with top-notch, eco-friendly transportation options,” said Cui Anqi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia. “The Malaysian market holds tremendous potential, and we believe Ora 07 will attract customers seeking uniqueness”.
According to GWM Malaysia, the company plans to offer the B-segment all-electric Ora 07 (also known as Lightning Cat) in 2 configurations i.e. a single electric motor variant and a dual electric variant, to suit different preferences. Our neighbour to the north, Thailand, saw the launch of the Ora 07 last month, also with 2 variants i.e. Long Range and Performance. Based on their specs, both variants use an 83.5 kWh ternary lithium battery pack to give it a driving range of up to 640 km and 550 km respectively.
The powertain of the front-wheel-drive 07 Long Range variant provides 150 kw (201 hp) and 340 Nm, with top speed capped at 170 km/h. Meanwhile, the 07 Performance has all-wheel-drive and its dual motor powertrain provides 300 kW (402 hp) and 680 Nm (maximum top speed is 180 km/h). The latter variant claims a 0 – 100 km/h sprint time of 4.3 seconds.
Standard features will include an adaptive electric rear wing and frameless door design. Other expected features include a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), adaptive cruise control, 360-degree view cameras, and tyre pressure monitoring system.
If you are curious about the expected retail price in Malaysia, the retail prices at launch (including incentives by the government) in Thailand for the Ora 07 Long Range was THB1,299,000 and for the Ora 07 Performance, THB1,499,000. In today’s money, that equates to RM172,580 and RM199,151 respectively.
