Proton S70 1.5T Sedan Officially Launched In Malaysia; 4 Variants Priced From RM74k

PROTON has officially launched the Proton S70 1.5T, its new generation sedan, and its first after the last one about 7 years ago. The Proton S70 also marks the brand’s return to the C-segment sedan market after launching 3 SUV models over the past few years.

As the name indicates, the Proton S70 1.5T is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged engine. This is an in-line 3-cylinder 12-valve DOHC multi-point injection unit that is paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with manual mode and provides 150 PS (148 hp) @ 5,500 rpm and 226 Nm @ 1,750 – 4,000 rpm. This engine and gearbox pairing is found across the 4 variants i.e. S70 1.5T Executive (RM73,800), S70 1.5T Premium (RM79,800), S70 1.5T Flagship (RM89,800) and S70 1.5T Flagship X (RM94,800).

The development of the Proton S70 was a comprehensive process that covered 260,000 man-hours of R&D design engineering, 453 new parts development, 75,000 man-hours of testing and 1.2 million kilometres of driving. This was to ensure that the Proton S70 is suited to local conditions.

Buyers of the Proton S70 will receive a comprehensive package of benefits for an enhanced ownership experience. The Standard Package is inclusive of 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and 6 complimentary labour service. Further, those who pick the Flagship and Flagship X variants will also receive a 5-year data package with 1GB per month.

Additionally, low financing interest rates from 2.34% per annum are also offered via Proton Commerce and customers will receive a range of benefits if their Proton S70 is insured with the PROTON Insurance Programme. These benefits include a waiver of betterment cost for up to 10 years, agreed value coverage extending up to 12 years, comprehensive insurance for all authorized drivers, key care cover up to RM1,000, flood relief insurance up to RM1,000, personal accident coverage up to RM15,000, and 24/7 roadside assistance and towing.

The first 3,000 customers who register their vehicles by 29 February 2024 will enjoy additional perks. Those who buy the Flagship X variant will receive with an aerokit valued at RM3,130, while Premium and Flagship variant buyers are eligible for a RM500 service voucher. All buyers will also receive increased PROTON Insurance Programme benefits consisting of complimentary 1st Year Special Perils coverage.

Although there are 7 exterior colours available, only Snow White and Space Grey are available across all variants. Armour Silver and Passion Red are available only for the Premium and Flagship variants, while Marine Blue and Teal Bayou Green are for the Flagship and Flagship X. Also exclusive only to the Flagship X is Quartz Black.
