Final Round Of Inaugural 3V3 TotalEnergies x Li-Ning Cup Badminton Tournament To Be Played In November 2023
The inaugural 3V3 TotalEnergies x Li-Ning Cup badminton tournament for non-professional enthusiasts will hold its final round in November 2023. The first round was played in Kuala Lumpur (16 – 17 September), while the 2nd round was in Johor (23 September). It will move to Penang next (7 – 8 October), before the finals.
The first round for this fast paced format in KL saw 288 players showcasing their skills and agility on the court.
The winners of the inaugural round are:
- Men’s Under 30
- Champion: Gwee Kang Yi, Sim Yong Wee, Lee Jun Hong
- 1st runner-up: H’ng Yu Jin, Kow Wui Keat, Lee Kai Wen
- Men’s Above 30
- Champion: Hong Chieng Hun, Ng Kean Kok, Chow Pak Chuu
- 1st runner-up: Lee Pin Hui, Tan Ken Yew, Chin Chuan Jue
- Mixed Open Team
- Champion: Sim Han Min, Tan Chew Ping, Ng Sun Ly
- 1st runner-up: Tan Swee Seng, Tan Kian An, Tan Chin Yin
- Mixed Fun Team
- Champion: Soh Aik Yong, Ng Jin Ping, Tew Zi Feng
- 1st runner-up: Kok Wing Soon, Ten Jun Hoong, Ho Yukang
In the end, the top 4 teams of each category will advance to the grand finals, scheduled to take place at Sunway Velocity Mall, Kuala Lumpur on 18-19 November 2023. A total of RM338,800 worth of prizes will be awarded, including a grand final prize of RM12,000 for the champion.

Ng Sun Ly, leader of the Mixed Open Team champion shared her motivation to register for the 3V3 badminton tournament as something new and exciting. The team is form with friends from Johor and Penang. “Playing badminton in the 3V3 format is very fast paced and we need to be agile and quick. The team needs to have great chemistry and communication to move as one. Through playing the 3V3 format for the first time, we learned to strategise and play it better after each match. We’re very proud and happy to have won in our category and look forward to the grand finals in November.”
Meanwhile, Ng Jin Ping, team lead for the Mixed Fun Team champion, expressed that the tournament was exhilarating. “We are happy and proud of our team achievements, as the 3V3 format is new and challenging. It’s a test of skill, strategy, and teamwork. Although some of us are not locally based in Klang Valley and hardly trained together as a team, this fast-paced gameplay tested our technical skills and agility, making it a thrilling experience for us.”
The upcoming 3V3 TotalEnergies x Li-Ning Cup tournament will be held on 7 – 8 October at MBPP Relau Sports, Penang.
