GWM EV Convoy Tour Covered 3 Countries Using Ora Good Cat

A convoy of EVs from Great Wall Motor (GWM) recently completed an all-electric journey across 3 countries – Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The GWM EV Convoy Tour which consisted of 11 Ora Good Cats covered 15 cities, including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, as well as lesser seen attractions on their way south.

The EV convoy was not done at record-breaking times but was meant to be a leisurely journey through the 3 countries. It was also used to showcase long-distance travel with an EV. The group spent 8 days traveling from Bangkok to Singapore, where GWM marked its official debut, and the launch of the Ora Good Cat. GWM also celebrated the opening of its first showroom in Singapore.

The convoy participants also got to experience the EV charging network infrastructure during the journey in the 15 cities across 3 countries which they visited. The Ora Good Cat has a driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge (Good Cat 500 Ultra variant on NEDC cycle). Its permanent magnet synchronous motor which produces 105 kW (143 PS) and 210 Nm of torque gets energy from a 63.1 kWh ternary lithium battery pack. Through DC (direct current) charging, the Ora Good Cat’s battery can be charged from 30% to 80% SoC (state of charge) in about 40 minutes (0 – 80% SoC in about 60 minutes). On AC (alternating current) charging, it will take approximately 10 hours to get from empty to 80%. The Ora Good Cat also has 5 driving modes i.e. Auto, Normal, Sport, Eco, and Eco+ to suit your driving preference and help you manage your drive.

Additional features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Intelligent Cruise Assistance, Traffic Jam Assist, Intelligent Turning, Automatic Emergency Braking with Intersection function, Forward Collision Warning, Low Speed Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Centering Assist, Emergency Lane Keeping, Lane Change Assist, Wisdom Dodge System. It also has single pedal control system (for acceleration and braking), 360-degree surround view camera system, Traction Control System, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Cornering Brake Control, Hill Start Assist, 6-spot front parking sensors, 6-spot rear parking sensors, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Traffic Sign Warning, Intelligent Speed Assist, ISOFIX points, and airbags in front and front sides as well as side curtain airbags.
