BMW iX M60 Launched In Malaysia

BMW Malaysia has launched the BMW iX M60, the first all-electric SAV addition to its high-performance segment. The iX M60 has a high output of 455 kW (619 hp) and 1,100 Nm of torque. With a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, it is one of the fastest electric models in BMW’s portfolio of premium performance vehicles. Acceleration via the Launch Control feature is accompanied by an emotive sound design from BMW M IconicSounds Electric designed by Hans Zimmer. Additionally, it has a drag coefficient of 0.26 and an electric driving range of up to 561 kilometres (WLTP).

High-powered charging at rates of up to 195 kW allow it to be charged from 0 – 80% SoC (state-of-charge) in 35 minutes. The BMW iX M60 also holds the distinction of being the first BMW vehicle in Malaysia that is able to receive up to a 22 kW from an AC Wallbox Charger which significantly reduces the charging time to under 5.5 hours for a complete 0 to 100% charge (11 hours if via an 11kW AC Wallbox Charger for 0 to 100%). 

The iX M60 utilises an aluminium spaceframe concept and carbon cage with carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the roof, side and rear sections for increased rigidity and optimised weight 50/50 weight distribution. The battery pack sits in the floor between the axles to keep the vehicle’s centre of gravity low. Each axle holds an independent electric motor to power each axle as current-energised synchronous units, a design method that completely eliminates the use of rare earth metals. The electric all-wheel-drive system has the intelligence to transmit exactly the right amount of torque to the front and rear wheels in all driving situations enabling fully variable power transmission ranging from highly efficient pure rear-wheel drive through to maximising traction in all-wheel-drive mode.

The near-actuator wheel slip limitation technology fitted in tandem with all-wheel drive for the first time brings about a further improvement in traction and handling stability. Integrated into the motor management, this system produces very precise and lightning fast corrective inputs, thereby enabling the vehicle to make effortless progress at all times, even in adverse weather and road conditions. The iX M60 is also equipped with M Sport brakes with blue calipers, adaptive 2-axle air suspension with M specific tuning and components, along with the Integral Active Steering and 22″ BMW Individual M aerodynamic wheels in a bi-colour titanium bronze.

The design language of the car extends into the cabin, with opulent options for upholstery that includes the unique Interior Design Suite Amido and the Interior Design Suite Castanea, complemented by the central console and central armrest in Sensatec. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional combines a curved 12.3″ instrument display and 14.9″ central display. Comfort and convenience come in the form of multifunctional seats for the driver, wireless charging and automatic air conditioning with 4-zone control. 

Another key highlight of the interior is the Bower and Wilkins Diamond surround sound system with the “True Sound” concept. This sound system features embellishers in brushed stainless steel with etched branding and light staging, 30 speakers (1,615 W) with 2 diamond tweeters, and fully active speaker control for optimum 3D surround  sound, as well as dedicated surround sound speakers in the head restraints of each seat for True Surround. Other features include the Bass Performance Plus which offers 2 subwoofers under the 2nd row seats, along with a 7-band equaliser, ShyTech and audio cloth implementation for mid-range speakers. 

Other features include Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, ConnectedDrive Services, Connected Package Professional, BMW Natural Interaction and Active Protection via the high-resolution BMW Live Cockpit Professional. In terms of assistance, it includes Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant Professional  and new cruise control with braking function.

The BMW iX M60 comes in the standard exterior colour options of Mineral White, Alpine White Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Sophisto Grey Metallic with Brilliant Effect, Phytonic Blue Metallic, and Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic. There are also 2 special colours available i.e. Individual Storm Bay Metallic and Aventurine Red Metallic. For the interior, you can choose between Interior Design Atelier in Mocha or Black, or the Interior Design Suite in Amido or Castanea.

Owners of the BMW iX M60 will also be able to enjoy charging access at over 1,000 charging facilities nationwide, powered by major local EV charging providers who are in partnership with BMW Group Malaysia.

The retail pricing (on the road, without insurance) for the BMW iX M60 with Extended Warranty and BMW Service & Repair Inclusive is RM630,800.
