E-Mutiara Is First To Use Longest Double Deck Scania Coach In Malaysia
Konsortium E-Mutiara Berhad has become the first express bus service provider in Malaysia to use the longest double deck Scania coach. The company is expanding its fleet with 20 units of the 13.5-metre long Scania coach. At this length, the Scania K410EB6X2 double deck coach is the longest in Malaysia. 
“E-Mutiara took the bold step to apply for the Scania 13.5 metre double-deck coaches and got the approval from MOT. The impeccable safety and comfort, fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly Scania coaches have always been a plus for E-Mutiara in securing better profitability and sustainability. Now with a longer coach, we are able to increase the passenger capacity and also comfort.” commented Che Ibrahim Che Ismail a.k.a. Pak Nik, Executive Chairman of E-Mutiara. 
With this latest addition, E-Mutiara will launch its first luxurious express coaches in Malaysia and start another chapter in its long and successful sustainable partnership with Scania.
The Scania 13.5 metre double-deck coach offers 10% more capacity compared to other luxury coaches in Malaysia, thus providing the operator an improvement in operation efficiency. Furthermore, the energy-efficient powertrain with Opticruise in Eco mode, coupled with Scania fleet management services and maintenance services, can make a significant difference in fuel economy, improving it by up to 15%.
The coach’s front and rear air suspension provides a comfortable experience for both the driver and passengers. Like all Scania vehicles, EBS with ABS and traction control come standard, coupled with a Retarder for additional braking capability, thus reducing wear and tear of the disc brake pads. Additionally, the hill hold function keeps the coach on steep stops from rolling backwards, while the speed limiter helps to maintain a safe drive. The coach is also fitted with 360-degree cameras to give an all-round view and help eliminate blind spots. There is also a 3-fire alarm system which will activate during emergencies.

Also present at the event were Tuan Rospiagos Taha, Director-General of JPJ; Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri, Director-General of APAD; PPj Kehormat (PA) Dato’ Sri Haji N.W.Hisham Abdul Wahab, Chairman of APM; Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Wan Mazlina Wan Mohamed, Head Consultancy of MITRANS; Mohamad Suffian Ahmad, Commercial Vehicle Unit Research Officer of MIROS; DSP SH Roslee SH Mohd Norrani, Head of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of IPD Shah Alam; PDRM and Directors and key officials from MOT, JPJ, MIROS, APAD and PDRM. 
Alongside these double deck coaches, E-Mutiara also operates the first Scania 14.7-metre long single deck coaches, which offers enhanced passenger capacity as well as fuel efficiency. On approval from MOT, the body was built by Marcopolo on top of the Scania chassis.
