Gentari, JomCharge And chargEV Team Up To Create Roaming Network For Convenient EV Charging
Gentari Sdn Bhd, via its wholly-owned subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, has activated its roaming network of electric vehicle (EV) charging points in partnership with EV Connection Sdn Bhd (EVC) and Green EV Charge Sdn Bhd (GEV), a subsidiary of Yinson GreenTech (YGT).
This partnership will enable cross-access to charging points in the Gentari, JomCharge and chargEV networks, as well as cross-tracking via the Setel, JomCharge and chargEV mobile applications respectively.
This partnership will allow EV drivers to access charging stations, activate and pay from any partner platform with ease, offering better convenience and peace of mind. Through this roaming network, EV drivers gain convenient access to a combined total of over 600 charging points across Malaysia, including in East Malaysia, comprising of over 150 Gentari charging points, over 320 chargEV points and over 100 JomCharge points. This roughly adds up to 60% of total EV charging points in the country.
“Offering ease of access and convenient use of charging infrastructure is essential to drive the switch to EVs. With this roaming collaboration, we are able to offer access to an extensive network to empower EV drivers with range confidence, growing the number of accessible charging points at a pace that would have otherwise, become a challenge for individual network owners. We are mutually committed to continue fostering innovation and collaboration towards achieving collective progress and pace in building the ecosystem necessary to push greater EV adoption,” said Shah Yang Razalli, CEO, Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd.
“We believe this is an exciting milestone in the development of EV charging infrastructure in Malaysia, where 3 major charge point operators (CPOs) come together to innovate and bring convenience to the EV user community. With our joint efforts, EV users are now able to enjoy seamless charging experience, where they can discover and access over 600 charge points across EVC, ChargEV and Gentari charging networks using just one single app of their choice. The development of this roaming capability of our back-end systems is also the first in Malaysia, and we believe more CPOs will follow suit” added Dr Che Hang Seng, Technical Director, EV Connection Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, Yinson Group Chief Executive Officer Lim Chern Yuan commented, “As a leading green technology solutions provider, YGT is committed to an inclusive transition, ensuring that no one is left behind in our ultimate pursuit of a net-zero future. Partnering chargEV with Gentari and EV Connection, is a step forward to quickly expand the EV charging network, making it readily accessible and convenient for all. This move empowers businesses and individuals in the adoption of sustainable transportation.”
