2023 Lexus RX 350 Luxury For Malaysia Priced At RM469k
The 2023 Lexus RX 350 Luxury, imported from Japan, is now available in Malaysia at a price of RM468,888 (on the road without insurance for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia).
Built on an enhanced GA-K platform, the all-new Lexus RX is 25 mm wider and boasts a longer wheelbase (+60 mm), allowing it to offer more interior space. Marking a new chapter for Lexus’ design language, the RX also comes with an updated spindle body design that expresses its new identity. The new seamless grille gives the RX a more defined sleek and sporty expression. The hood’s front edge has been raised while the window’s rear edge lowered to give it a more horizontal and low-slung posture.
Based on the ‘Alluring x Verve’ design concept, the colour design created for the RX is focused on accentuating the form of the vehicle with an exquisite quality feel to further solidify the model’s premium image. The metallic colours are applied using Lexus-original sonic technology to accentuate the form of the vehicle through strong shading. This treatment not only creates a powerful expression for the SUV but also allows it to transform under strong sunlight.
The allure of its design flows into the interior with a cabin that is based on the human-centred Tazuna concept. Designed to create a true driver-focused cockpit, the interior provides a more intuitive connection between vehicle and driver for a more involved driving experience.
The cabin space is designed with a high standard of luxury. For further synergy between human and machine, Lexus merged the Omotenashi influenced design with cutting-edge technologies. Close attention was paid to the size, shape, layout, and information of switches within the cabin space to create this cohesiveness.
Lexus designers not only focused on the optimum placement and shape for seamless operation but also considered the frequency of use of each function. For instance, the steering wheel switches are integrated with the head-up display to allow the driver to put more focus into driving. Navigation, audio, and various functions can be controlled without the need for extra eye movement or complicated switch operations. Furthermore, the 14″ centre display can be customised with many functions integrated into its soft switches. The end result is a modern, articulate and immersive environment that complements the new RX’s dynamic and intuitive driving experience.
Power for the RX comes from the highly efficient 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is paired with a Direct Shift-8AT 8-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire technology for buttery smooth gear shifts with powerful start-off acceleration and comfortable high-speed cruising. The chain driven Dual VVT-i engine provides 279 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 430 Nm @ 1,700 – 3,600 rpm to an all-wheel-drive system that optimises torque distribution.
Providing a more comfortable ride is the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) which helps control the damping force of the shock absorbers on all 4 wheels. Active Noise Control (ANC) also helps to reduce noise intrusion into the cabin space to ensure a quiet and refined ride for the occupants.
For safety, the new RX features an improved version of the Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+) and includes a Rear Cross Traffic Alert and a digital Panoramic View Monitor with live 360° view of the vehicle to easily navigate tight spaces. Additionally, it is also equipped with an E-latch system for both inside and outside door handles. The electrically controlled system not only provides smooth door operation but also aids in mitigating accidents or collisions when occupants exit the vehicle.
When entering the vehicle, the door can be unlatched by gripping the door handle and pressing the switch on the back of the handle. Inside, the door can be unlatched by placing the hand on the door armrest pull handle and pressing the door opener switch with the thumb.
Additionally, paired with the Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist (SEA), the RX is able to warn the driver of impending vehicles or cyclists approaching from behind the vehicle. Should the object appear close enough for an imminent ‘dooring’ impact, the E-latch will disable, preventing the door from being opened thus reducing an accident risk.
