CANST Gets New Scania Trucks To Further Reduce Emissions
The Circular Agency and North-South Transport (CANST) has made a further commitment with the purchase of 10 new units of Scania G-series trucks to boost its efforts in further reducing CO2 emissions. The 10 trucks comprise 4 units of Scania G410A6x2NZ and 6 units of Scania G360A4x2NA and are tied with the Scania Ecolution partnership as well as the Repair & Maintenance Contracts.
CANST has thus far had good success in its carbon footprint reduction efforts. It is recognised by Scania as the 3rd best transport company with marked improvement in reducing CO2 emissions via the Scania Ecolution partnership agreement.
“Scania would like to congratulate CANST for their carbon reduction efforts. By expanding the Scania Ecolution partnership and Repair & Maintenance Contracts to this latest delivery shows the true commitment of CANST in caring for the environment and operational excellence. I am positive that CANST’s operational practices will encourage others to follow suit,” commented Heba El Tarifi, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia.
“We maintained very high standards when it comes to safety of the products that we deliver. This is why CANST drivers who are highly trained fits in very well with the additional safety features in Scania trucks. Overall, I’m glad to state that Scania really gives us the best safety and CO2 emissions reduction for our operational delivery runs. Scania trucks are truly environmentally friendly,” said Dato’ Lee Hau Hian, Managing Director of Batu Kawan Berhad. The CANST companies are subsidiaries of the Batu Kawan Berhad Group.
CANST has over 40 years of experience in providing hazardous chemical logistics solutions in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. As a transporter of hazardous chemicals, it is acutely aware of the importance of HSE factors (health, safety and environment) for its product deliveries. All its vehicles are in strict compliance with local safety regulations and are equipped with tracking systems. In addition, its drivers are highly trained, knowledgeable, and experienced in handling chemicals to ensure reliable and safe deliveries to each of its valued customers.
Scania’s ’A Good Driver’ is a competition that aims to find the best driver with the best improvement in CO2 emissions reduction. For this competition, Scania decided to create a special recognition for the top 3 companies in CO2 emissions reduction. This is part of Scania’s commitment towards minimising emissions from its products and its own operations. This includes decreasing CO2 emissions by 20% from its customers’ land transport per transported tonne by 2025 (using 2015 as a baseline), as well as 50% from its own operations.
As an Ecolution partner with Scania, the good company and the good driver are part of the journey towards achieving Scania’s goal of reducing CO2 emissions in line with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi).
Furthermore, the R&M contract subscription will give CANST worry-free operation with predictable costs. The planned downtimes will be able to let CANST focus on planning its uptime schedule to maximise its business revenue. The R&M contracts have precise scheduling for repairs and maintenance and thus eliminates disruptions for worry-free daily operations.
