These Are The Differences Between Toyota Vios 1.5E And 1.5G

UMW Toyota Motor launched the all-new Toyota Vios a few days back with retail prices slightly below the earlier projected prices. There are only 2 variants for sale this time i.e. Vios 1.5E priced at RM89,600 and Vios 1.5G at RM95,500 (before insurance).

With about a RM6,000 difference between price tags, one would be curious what is missing from one, or added in the other. Depending on what sort of features you value in a car, this would also help determine if you should save the RM6k or if it’s well justified spending the extra. We’ll start off with features that differ between the 2 variants.

  • Rear drum brake

Vios 1.5G

As for active safety, both variants come with Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control. However, the 1.5G adds Lane Keeping Control, Auto High Beam and Adaptive Cruise Control.Toyota Vios_Road

The differences between the 2 variants also affect kerb weight, with the 1.5E coming in slightly lighter at 1,015 kg compared to 1,035 kg for the 1.5G. The wheel size also affects turning radius with the smaller 16″ wheels allowing the 1.5E to have a 4.8 meter radius (vs 5.2 m for 1.5G).

Notable common features in both are acoustic windscreen, auto LED headlights with Follow Me Home function, aerokit, powered side mirrors with auto fold, smart entry and push start system, wireless charger, 9″ infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, illuminated scuff plate, surround view monitor, blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, front digital video recorder, front and rear parking sensors, 6 airbags, premium solar and security film, and 3-year free subscription for Vehicle Telematics System.

One key change to both variants is the tyre repair kit in exchange for the spare tyre. The Vios isn’t the first model without run-flats to do that nor will it be the last as car makers continue to find ways to shave weight while adding features. Is the spare important? Well, it depends on how unlucky you are on the road. Nonetheless, nearly all (if not all) auto insurance providers offer 24-hour support services which would also address punctures.

All the described features have a worth but how much value one places on them depends on one’s preferences for them and the significance they hold.Toyota Vios_1.5G_Steering_Cockpit
