Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd is pleased to announce that the 2023 Mazda CX-30 is now officially open for booking. The 2023 Mazda CX-30 is the 3rd production model that is locally assembled at the Inokom Assembly Plant in Kulim, Kedah.
The Mazda CX-30’s design is no stranger, bearing the signatures of the brand’s Kodo – Soul of Motion design philosophy. Its sleek styling is based on the “Charge and Release” design language taken from the brushwork used in Japanese calligraphy to portray a sense of strong forward motion. Its body panels have deliberate but gentle curves to catch light and shadow to give it a sense of dynamism. Unsurprisingly, the CX-30 won the 2020 Red Dot Design for Passenger Car category.
The front styling carries Mazda’s signature wing that portrays a sharper and deeper form that combines the solid and sculpted contour of the front bumper. Additionally, the design of the radiator grille’s triangular motif shows rich variations through different viewing angles. All but the entry level CX-30 will feature Mazda’s signature illumination with its LED headlights and tail lights. However, auto leveling and auto on/off functions are standard across the range. Additionally, the range-topper comes with powered sunroof. Boot space is a respectable 430 litres.
The design of the CX-30’s cabin is based on Mazda’s human-centered design philosophy and traditional Japanese architecture, with a snug and condensed cockpit area for the driver, and a clean, airy space for the front passenger. Overall, the interior achieves both flowing elegance and beauty. Great attention was also paid to details of the materials used to help create a refined, top-quality interior space. All but the entry spec come with leather seats, and they also have 10-way powered adjustment for the driver as well memory for 2 positions. The base spec makes do with 8-way manual adjustment for the driver’s seat.
The cockpit adopts the Human-Machine-Interface (HMI) approach based on Mazda’s research and development. At the driver’s disposal is an 8.8″ infotainment display, offering simplified operation via the Commander Control Knob on the centre console. The infotainment system also enables the user to connect to Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and is connected to an 8-speaker configuration with 3L woofers for an immersive audio experience for the occupants.
In terms of Safety, the Mazda CX-30 was awarded the 2020 TOP SAFETY PICK+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Incidentally, one of the CX-30 models tested scored the highest-ever mark in the adult occupancy category. It also performed remarkably in 3 categories i.e. Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road User (pedestrian) and Safety Assist. The rating resulted from 3 key factors of the adaptation of the SkyActiv-Vehicle Architecture that features a high-rigidity, impact-absorbing, yet lightweight bodyshell. In addition, high standards of pedestrian protection performance and a wide range of advanced i-Activsense safety technologies help drivers identify potential risks and reduce the likelihood of damage or injury.
The Mazda i-Activsense advanced safety features such as the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Lane-Keep Assist System (LAS), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Smart Brake Support (SBS) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function (MRCC) come standard in the High+ and High+ Premium variant.
Meanwhile, the Adaptive LED Headlamps (ALH), Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Driver Attention Alert (DAA) with Driver Monitoring (DM) and Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) is available exclusively for the CX-30 High+ Premium variant.
Standard features across the range include G-Vectoring Plus (GVC Plus), rain sensing wipers, Advanced Keyless Entry, 7″ Multi-info Display and Active Driving Display (head-up display).
The Mazda CX-30 is assembled locally at a dedicated section of the Inokom assembly plant Kulim, Kedah, like the CX-5 and CX-8. At Kulim, Mazda had put in place similar processes and quality control measures similar to the Mazda assembly facilities in Japan. The plant also features an upgraded automated body line and state-of-the-art paint facility to apply Mazda’s special colours and painting processes.
The colour choices include Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black, Platinum Quartz and Polymetal Gray.
