GoCar Makes EV Sharing Service More Affordable
GoCar Malaysia is making its GoEV electric vehicle sharing service more affordable to promote the EV driving experience. As a leading on-demand mobility-as-a-service platform, GoCar wants to make EVs more accessible to the public. By using the GoEv service, you can have a better experience of what it’s like to use an EV before you decide to buy one.
GoEV’s hourly rates have been reduced by nearly 30% while the cost of bookings for 30 days and above is now almost 50% less. Available for Round Trip bookings, the hourly rate for a GoEV Share vehicle is now RM17.90 (reduced from RM24.90 per hour). GoCar has also reduced the daily rates to RM179 from the previous RM249 per day.
Rates for longer-term bookings of 30 days and above are even more attractive, at RM120 per day, compared to RM232 per day before the rate adjustments.

To increase the availability of GoEV within the Klang Valley, GoCar has added 2 new zones i.e. IOI City Mall (Level P1, between pillars F7 and F8) and 1 Mont Kiara (Zone C5, Level P3, Bay 162-164).
Other current locations include the GoCar Petaling Jaya Hub, GoCar Lot92 Cuba Beli Chow Kit, Avenue K KLCC, ERL Station KL Sentral, The LINC KL Jalan Tun Razak, MidValley Megamall, MyTown Cheras, Nissan/Renault ETCM Glenmarie and 163 Retail Park Mont Kiara.
A common concern that is hindering the mass adoption of EVs is range anxiety, which can be unfounded as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) can comfortably travel at least 200 km when fully charged. For the average driver, this is sufficient for a few days of use.
For GoEV users, there is free AC charging available with the complimentary chargEV card. Each GoEV vehicle comes with a chargEV card (placed in the sun visor slot), courtesy of GoCar. As such, GoEV users do not need to sign up and pay for the annual chargEV membership to enjoy free usage of chargEV’s AC chargers. The use of the fast DC chargers (CHAdeMO and CCS2) however, is chargeable based on chargEV’s rates.
GoEV users can also conveniently view the locations of available GoEV and JomCharge charging stations in a single app. Following the integration with the JomCharge mobile platform, GoEV users can now view charger locations and availability on both the GoEV and JomCharge platforms directly via the GoCar mobile app.
JomCharge is one of the largest DC networks in the country, with charging points located along the North-South Expressway.
The GoEV fleet consists mainly of the Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Kona. The Nissan Leaf comes with a 40 kWh battery that enables a maximum travel distance of 311 km (NEDC cycle) on a single charge. Further, its electric has regenerative braking which adds power back to the battery. As the Nissan Leaf comes with a Type 1 connector, GoCar provides a Type 1-to-Type 2 adaptor to fit the available AC chargers in Malaysia.
To book a GoEV Share, you will need to download the GoCar mobile app.
