Peugeot Landtrek Pickup Truck Launching Soon In Malaysia

Malaysia gets a new player in the pickup truck segment as Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB) has offered a preview of the Peugeot Landtrek mid-sized pickup. The sole distributor of Peugeot in Malaysia is expecting to launch the Lion’s first pickup truck soon. This will also be the Landtrek’s first appearance in Asia Pacific.PEUGEOT_LANDTREK_Off-road

Peugeot Landtrek_1.9L Diesel Engine with VGTThe Peugeot Landtrek is powered by a 1.9L diesel engine with Variable Geometry Turbo which is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and produces 150 hp @ 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1,800 – 2,800 rpm. This engine is a joint development by Groupe PSA (now Stellantis) and Changan Automobile.

The new Landtrek is designed to be a functional machine that can handle tough terrain and leisurely outdoor activities. As the Landtrek is based on the Changan Kaicene F70 pickup, it does not truly bear the signature look typical of the latest Peugeots with their 3-claw light design nor the vertical DRL strip. However, the prominent Lion logo and brand lettering across the front grille and tailgate give indication as to what it is.

This pickup is shod with 18” tyres and both units at the preview had roof rails and side steps fitted. According to BAASB, a protective bedliner will also come as standard. The cameras spotted in the front grille as well as wing mirrors also indicate that 360-degree view will also be available.

Inside the cabin sits a 10” HD touchscreen on top of the angular dashboard. One can expect to have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity with this infotainment system. Just above the toggle-like switches for all-wheel-drive, terrain settings and locking and unlocking sits the dual zone airconditioning controls. There is also a much appreciated physical volume control dial further down, near the USB ports.

According to BAASB, the Peugeot Landtrek provides its passengers with comfort and functionality. Special attention was paid to the rear seating for up to 3 passengers. The modularity of the rear bench seats in this double cab Landtrek adds further versatility to the cabin thanks to the folding backrests.

You can expect the Peugeot Landtrek to be launched soon as BAASB is accepting bookings. It is estimating a starting price of RM123,000.
