Federal Auto Cars First To Be Approved As Volvo Certified Damage Repair Centre
Federal Auto Cars is the first Volvo dealer to be approved as a Volvo Certified Damage Repair (VCDR) centre by Volvo Car Malaysia. The VCDR programme is a comprehensive one to ensure that the dealership employs high quality and standards in the structural repair of Volvo vehicles through the use of modern technology, equipment, processes and human resource training.
This VCDR facility at the Federal Auto Cars Volvo dealership in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, was jointly designed by Volvo Car Corporation and Federal Auto Cars. The design of the 10,586 square feet facility optimises floor layout for high operational efficiency. It is also equipped with leading solutions for spray booths, vehicle alignment, welding, as well as premium paint finish. The VCDR equipment and processes not only enable a higher level of efficiency and precision compared to non-VCDR concepts, but also promote sustainability by reducing energy consumption and the emission of microscopic particles.
Unlike the conventional spray booths, VCDR uses PIVAB spray booths which are designed to optimise the heated air flow using automatic controls and monitoring system. The spray booth is controlled via a 15’’ LCD screen with a web-based operating system. The both ventilation stays at low speed to reduce power consumption, but increases when a paint spray gun is connected.
The system also uses electricity, instead of fuel, to heat the air during the drying process, which is more efficient and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The PIVAB spray booth is another step for Federal Auto Cars to help with climate sustainability.
Furthermore, Federal Auto Cars’ VCDR uses the approved Glasurit water-based paint for all repairs. This move from conventional solvent-based paint to water-based paint not only maintains a high aesthetic outcome and reduces the exposure of employees to chemicals, but also reduces the emission of microscopic particles to the environment. This is done without compromising the superior finishing to the body of Volvo vehicles.
Federal Auto Cars also invested in the newest Car-O-Liner system for this VCDR to meet Volvo’s standards on repair quality. The Car-O-Liner alignment and straightening system has the anchoring and holding system together with the electronic measuring system that is specific to Volvo models and can handle every Volvo car anchoring and fixturing situations imaginable.
Apart from the alignment system, the VCDR has an array of special tools used to perform any body or mechanical repairs on Volvo vehicles. The equipment is also specifically selected for improving the quality and precision of vehicle body repair.
The Federal Auto Cars’ VCDR also only uses genuine Volvo parts so customers can be assured of the quality of their vehicle. Furthermore, being located alongside the Volvo Glenmarie service and repair outlet allows customers convenient access to minor body repairs when they send their vehicle for servicing.
