inDriver Ride Hailing Service Adds 6-Seater Option
Ride hailing service, inDriver, has added a new vehicle type to its catalogue of vehicles. Users of the inDriver app can now choose a 6-seater vehicle option that will allow a larger group such as a family, or friends, to travel without the need to book multiple vehicles.
The 6-seater option is currently available in the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Bahru, and inDriver has plans to introduce it to more cities in Malaysia. The fare for this new transport mode will be slightly higher than the regular 4-seater cars but the company says it is still a cost-effective way for a large group to travel as it does away with the need to make multiple vehicle bookings. The slightly higher fare will also offer drivers of 6-seaters an increase in income opportunity.
“We see a steady increase in demand for high-capacity vehicles among our users as people fully resume their daily and social activities. With the expansion of our ride-hailing services, we hope to provide a convenient and comfortable solution with the same affordability that inDriver is known for, while also creating more opportunity and flexibility for our drivers to earn income,” said Roman Ermoshin, Director of Ride-hailing for Asia Pacific, inDriver.
According to inDriver, its data shows that there is demand for a 6-seater option particularly among family units, and groups of friends or colleagues who want a larger vehicle for outings or social gatherings. The service is most demanded during the morning to afternoon period as well as early evenings. This is consistent with the period of time when group or social activities are mostly active.
Additionally, the 6-seater option is also the preferred choice for those who travelling to and from the airport as it provides ample space for luggage as well as a more spacious cabin.
inDriver is a global IT and transportation platform and is one of the world’s fastest growing online ride-hailing services. Its services cover over 646 cities in 45 countries. Besides ride hailing, inDriver also offers other services, including intercity transportation, freight and cargo services, as well as delivery services in different markets.
The company has also introduced several updates to its app recently to further improve user experience. One of the new updates is a chat function that enables easy communication between drivers and passengers while maintaining the users’ privacy.
In addition, “On The Way” is a new feature introduced as a means to improve the driver’s income opportunity. With this feature, drivers can tap the “On The Way” button, enter their destination address, and receive ride requests as they drive towards their destination. This is meant to benefit drivers in terms of time and cost savings.
