Bermaz Motor Introduces Updated Mazda CX-8 With New Features And New Engine Variant

The Mazda CX-8 line-up has been updated for 2022, with the 7-seater SUV receiving updated features as well as the a new engine variant i.e. SKYACTIV-G 2.5L Turbo.

Mazda_2.5L Turbo_SkyActiv-G_EngineThe additional CX-8 variant makes it the 5th in the range, and the 3rd engine type (the other 2 being a 2.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, and a 2.2L turbo diesel). This latest variant will sit right at the top of the range (High Plus spec) and will come with all-wheel-drive. The SKYACTIV-G 2.5L Turbo engine produces 228 hp and 420 Nm torque and has a top speed of 200 km/h. All variants are paired with the SKYACTIV-DRIVE 6-speed automatic transmission with Manual Shift mode. On a side note, the SKYACTIV-D 2.2L turbo diesel variant is now a 2WD, making the new range-topping 2.5L Turbo the sole AWD variant.

Mazda_Powered TailgateOther new updates to the Mazda CX-8 includes added driving comfort and convenience features which are standard across all the variants. This includes GVC Plus, extra USB ports for the 3rd row passengers, a larger 7″ digital instrument cluster, 6-way powered seat for the front passenger, hands-free powered tailgate and auto-folding side mirrors.

As for the variant’s enhancement, the 2.5L Mid and High variants gets updated with leather seats in Black, while the CX-8 2.5L High Plus variants retain the Nappa leather seats in Deep Red Finishing. Additionally, a new grille design is installed on all High and High Plus variants. They will also get updated LED Signature headlamps, LED interior lamps as well as a wireless charger and wireless Apple CarPlay which is accessible via the 8″ Mazda Connect Infotainment display.

Furthermore, from the 2.5L High Plus and above, they get a Gunmetal finishing on their front grilles and chrome bumper garnish, front seats with heated and ventilation functions as well as updated i-Activsense features. Their i-Activsense includes the newly added Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), High Beam Control (HBC), front and rear Smart Brake Support (SBS) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop and go function.

In addition, the CX-8 has been enhanced with G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus), and is standard for all variants. GVC is a unique human-centered initiative that controls vehicle stability during cornering. The GVC Plus is a software-controlled feature which applies light braking to the outer wheels as the steering wheel is returned to the center position.

The CX-8 is a 7-seater mid-sized SUV sitting in between the 5-seater CX-5 and 7-seater CX-9. Like all Mazdas, it is designed and engineered with the brand’s “KODO: Soul of Motion” design philosophy, and the signature jinba ittai feel of driving.Mazda CX-8_Rear

The Mazda CX-8 is locally-assembled at the Inokom Assembly plant located at Kulim, Kedah, under supervision of Mazda Malaysia to ensure that the quality of vehicles are on par with that of Mazda vehicles produced in Japan.

The exterior colour choices are Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black and 2 new colours i.e. Platinum Quartz and Polymetal Gray.

All new Mazda vehicles include a 5-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty and 5-Year Free Maintenance package (except the Mazda BT-50) according to the manufacturer’s standards and is inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants. Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of 5 years and a mileage limit of 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
