2022 Perodua Alza D27A Priced Between RM62k – RM75k
Pursuant to some leaked info, Perodua has come out to reveal that the 2022 Perodua Alza (codenamed D27A) will be tentatively priced between RM62k and RM75k (in Peninsular Malaysia and pre-sales tax). This price range is spread across 3 variants i.e. the base Alza X (RM62,000), Alza H (RM68,000), and the range-topping Alza AV (RM75,000).
Unlike the previous Alza, this 2nd generation Alza will be based on the new Daihatsu Xenia / Toyota Avanza / Toyota Veloz that was launched in Indonesia not long ago. The new MPV is built on an all-new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform. For those familiar with the Xenia / Avanza, this means that this model will for the first time be front-wheel-drive, and with a monocoque frame (instead of ladder). This is supposed to improve comfort.
In terms of powertrain, it will be a 1.5L engine and very likely the 2NR-VE like in Indonesia, with 106 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 137 Nm of torque @ 4,200 rpm. This is a Euro 4-standard engine which should be a favourable factor for fuel economy and emissions. The transmission is the same D-CVT (Dual Mode Continuously Variable Transmission) found in the Ativa and updated Myvi for better economies of scale.
Further, Perodua had been very active in introducing active safety to as many of its variants, and it will be no different for the new Alza. Its active safety system (Perodua Smart Drive Assist; PSDA) is split into 4 categories i.e Advanced Safety Assist (ASA), Driver Assist, Parking Assist and Headlamp Assist.
Advanced Safety Assist features will be standard in all variants. This includes Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Assist Brake (for vehicles and pedestrian), Mis-pedal Operational Control and Front Departure Alert. All variants will also include Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention systems. As a bonus, all variants will also be equipped with “Leaving Home” Headlamp Assist and Hill-start Assist functions. Standard features are 6 airbags, ABS with
EBD, vehicle stability control (VSC) with brake assist and rear sensors for parking. The AV also has electronic parking brake, like the higher spec Veloz in Indonesia.
“This full model change represents our best effort so far in terms of product offering as the features included are the best within its price category,” Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, said. You can expect the higher specs to include a 360° Panoramic View monitor, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, Rear Disc Brake and a new Drive Mode: Normal, Eco and Power.
For storage space, the all-new Alza has a cargo capacity of 137 litres that is expandable to 498 litres when the 3rd row seats are folded. Further, Perodua has engineered the Alza to have a ground clearance of 160 mm based on feedback. And if the air intake is placed high up like the Myvi’s, you know what is possible during floods.
“We took our time in designing this full model change as we truly wanted to understand what improvements our customers wanted, and the new Perodua Alza aims to fulfil these requests,” Dato’ Zainal added.
There will be 5 colours available for the Alza i.e. Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Garnet Red, Elegant Black and Vintage Brown. The last 2 colours are new. Further, Garnet Red (new to Alza) and Vintage Brown are reserved for the H and AV variants.
The all-new Perodua Alza is now available for booking at all authorised Perodua showrooms.
