Precautionary Recall For Honda BR-V, City, City Hatchback, HR-V

Honda Malaysia has issued a proactive product recall involving the BR-V, City, City Hatchback, and HR-V as a precautionary safety measure.

Honda City 1.5L DOHC i-VTECFor the Honda City and City Hatchback, the recall involves the inspection of the nut torque on the Alternating Current Generator (ACG).

  • This recall is a precautionary safety measure to inspect the nut tightening on the ACG terminal of the engine harness. An improperly tightened nut may cause poor contact with the terminal and battery malfunction, which may lead to the engine halting while driving or you being unable to start the engine after the car stops. The models affected are 1,068 units of City 2021 Year Model and
    City Hatchback 2022 Year Model.

Honda HR-V RSAs for the Honda BR-V and HR-V, the recall is done to inspect the bolt earth grounding tightness.

  • This recall is also a precautionary safety measure to inspect the tightening of the bolt earth grounding that could lead to the loosening of the wire harness. This may cause poor contact with the terminal and may result in the engine halting while driving or you being unable to start the engine after the car stops. The models affected are 343 units of HR-V 2020 Year Model and 116 units of BR-V 2021 Year Model.

Honda Malaysia apologises for the inconvenience caused to the affected customers and reassures that all current production models and those on sale are not affected by this product recall. To-date, there have been no incidences of crashes or injuries caused by this issue reported in Malaysia.

The company is nevertheless issuing this product recall as it prioritises customer safety. Honda Malaysia has pledged that it will continue to uphold transparency and stringent controls for customers.

Honda Malaysia also urges all affected customers to contact any Honda authorised dealer to make an appointment upon receipt of the notification to have their vehicles checked and repaired if required, subject to parts availability.

The inspection, repair and replacement of the affected parts are free of charge and all costs related to this recall activity will be borne by Honda Malaysia.
