BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport Updated With New Features

The BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport now gets updated with new features. This locally assembled SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) was launched in Malaysia in June 2020, and thus is about time for a refresh.

This electrified version of the X5 is now equipped with BMW Laserlight for greater and wider illumination, enhancing visibility on the road. The Adaptive Headlights with BMW Selective Beam is equipped with laser high beam modules that offer a much higher light intensity compared to bi-LED lights. Another exterior update to “The Boss” is the set of 21″ 741M alloy wheels in Orbit Grey. This X5 was launched with a set of 20″ wheels.

Its safety features also gets updates, with the SAV now sporting Active Protection. This includes 2 more side airbags added to the second row, making it a total of 8 airbags in the cabin. The Active Protection feature also prepares passengers in the cabin for impact, should sensors calculate that a collision is imminent. For example, if the windows and sunroof are open, they will automatically be shut to ensure the highest level of safety for all passengers. Additionally, reversible seatbelt pre-tensioning will also be implemented where upon seatbelt fastening, an electric motor will automatically tighten the seatbelt to the ideal tension based on the passenger’s body.

“The Boss” is still equipped with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant Plus, Rear Seat Entertainment, as well as Vernasca genuine leather upholstery.

Driving the wheels is a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine coupled with BMW eDrive technology which produces a combined output of 394 hp and 600 Nm of torque. The powertrain is paired with a revised 8-speed Steptronic transmission with enhanced shift dynamics that transfers power through the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. It can run to a top speed of 235 km/h, and does the 0 – 100 km/h sprint in 5.6 seconds. On pure electric mode, the X5 xDrive45e M Sport has a driving range of up to 77 km on a full charge. Its speed maxes out at 135 km/h when in electric mode. Further, it has a rated fuel consumption is 2.5L/100 km and reduced carbon emission of 56 g/km.

The 2022 BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport has a retail price of RM 457,498.37. This price is on-the-road, without insurance and includes the Sales and Service Tax exemption as well as the BMW Service and Repair Inclusive package.
