Lotus Cars Malaysia has unveiled its latest sports car, the Lotus Emira. The official prices for the Lotus Emira V6 First Edition have been confirmed at RM1,131,800 for Peninsular Malaysia (includes registration but not insurance nor road tax), and RM456,900 for Langkawi (duty-free, inclusive of registration and logistics, but not insurance nor road tax).

The Emira builds on the legacy of the Elise, Exige and Evora, and retains all the hallmarks of a Lotus i.e. striking design, thrilling dynamic performance with best-in-class ride and handling, outstanding aerodynamics and an unrivalled experience ‘For The Drivers’. However, it includes higher levels of practicality, comfort, functionality and technology compared to its predecessors.

Lotus Emira_3.5L V6 EngineThe Emira is built on a new lightweight bonded aluminium chassis, a technology pioneered by Lotus and which remains an intrinsic part of the company’s sports car DNA. For power, Lotus is using a trusty engine that it is familiar with i.e. 3.5L V6 2GR-FE from Toyota. Fitted with an Edelbrock 1740 Supercharger, Lotus has tuned this engine to produce 400 hp and 420 Nm of torque. The car weighs in under 1.5 tons and can do a 0 – 100 km/h sprint in 4.3 seconds. Top speed stops at 288 km/h. Swap out the 6-speed manual gearbox (with a visible gearchange mechanism) for the 6-speed torque converter automatic (a RM15,000 option) and you gain paddle shifters, 10 Nm of torque, and shave off 0.1 seconds from the century sprint.

“The Emira is the most accomplished Lotus we’ve ever made, and to celebrate and reward our keenest early customers, we want to make the first cars extra special to own. The features have been carefully selected by our design team to make for a truly special and distinct First Edition,” said Matt Windle, Managing Director, Lotus Cars.

Exterior details include LED lights front and rear, a titanium exhaust finisher, heated power-fold door mirrors and rear parking sensors. The Lower Black Pack is fitted as standard so the front bumper air blades, front splitter, side sills and rear diffuser come in gloss black finish. The car rides on 20″ ultra-lightweight V-spoke forged alloy wheels, diamond cut to create a premium 2-tone finish. Silver or gloss black versions are available as a no-cost option. Included in the First Edition spec are 2-piece brake discs with branded calipers and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

The interior is available with 7 colour choices, all available at no extra cost i.e. red, black, grey and tan Nappa leather, as well as black Alcantara with either red, yellow or grey stitching. Satin chrome trim finishers, white interior mood lighting and Lotus-branded sill kick plates complete the premium look.

The seats feature 12-way adjustability and 2 memory presets linked to the door mirrors (driver’s seat only). Climate control, cruise control, keyless start and selectable drive modes are all included. Also in are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the 10.25″ touchscreen infotainment system, supported by Bluetooth and USB / 12V sockets. A 10-channel / 340W premium audio system has been developed in partnership with respected British brand KEF and includes DAB digital radio. The driver also gets information feedback through a 12.3″ TFT instrument cluster and a multi-function steering wheel.

The Lotus Emira V6 First Edition comes with 6 vibrant colour choices: Seneca Blue (seen at the car’s launch in July), Magma Red, Hethel Yellow, Dark Verdant, Shadow Grey and Nimbus Grey.

Meanwhile, the Design Pack adds privacy glass, sports pedals, a black Alcantara headliner, and the choice of black, red, yellow or silver painted brake callipers. Lotus-branded footwell mats are also included. The Convenience Pack adds front parking sensors, rear reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers with aero blades, auto-dimming mirrors and a rear luggage storage net.

A cost option is the Black Pack (+RM8,000) which colours the roof, cantrails, mirror backs, rear Lotus badge and exhaust finisher.
