BMW 218i Gran Coupé Gets New Larger Live Cockpit Professional Infotainment System

A year into its launch by BMW Malaysia, the locally assembled BMW 218i Gran Coupé receives a technical update. The 218i Gran Coupé  will now come with an updated BMW Live Cockpit Professional infotainment system. The physical difference will be the new instrument display cluster as well as the central information display, both of which are now a larger 10.25″ (up from the previous 5.1″ and 8.8″ respectively).

The latest generation BMW infotainment system is designed with a new display concept that aims to provide a fast, timely overview of relevant information. It has also made individualisation easier, with a wider array of configurable options to further personalise and enhance your driving experience.

The new BMW Live Cockpit Professional takes a “content-first” approach in displaying information, with a minimalistic and precise interface. Fuel level, vehicle speed, rpm and engine temperature are now presented in tube rings and arranged to free up more space in the centre for navigation display and other functions. Tailoring the driving experience is a list of functions and configurable widgets, which include sports scoreboards, driving data, fuel consumption and efficiency, G-force meter, media, and radio.

The new interface also reduces colour and graphical clutter for a cleaner and more consistent feel, and be less distracting. Depending on the selected Driving Experience mode (Sport, Comfort, or Eco-Pro), a uniform colour and look will be displayed across the information display cluster and central information display.

Additional, drivers can utilise the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistance for convenient and complete control over vehicle settings, navigation and entertainment systems. This voice-activated assistance can be triggered by a “Hey BMW!” or a personalised activation phrase of your choosing.
