New Peugeot 3008 And 5008 Launched In Malaysia By Bermaz Auto Alliance

The new Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 have been launched in Malaysia. These represent the first models launched by the new sole distributor of Peugeot in Malaysia – Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd. Both of these SUVs are also locally assembled at the Stellantis manufacturing plant in Gurun, Kedah. About 50% of the vehicle is Malaysian, including body in white, seats, tyres and batteries.

The 3008 and 5008 are updated with Peugeot’s new design identity. There is a new frameless grille flanked by redesigned LED headlights (with cornering lamps) and daytime running lights, new LED 3D-effect claw rear lights with scrolling indicator lights, gloss black side scoops, and new bumpers. Furthermore, the bonnet now wears the model’s monogram, which is a new standard feature for the entire Peugeot range.

Other key features include panoramic sunroof, advanced keyless entry, front and rear parking sensors, and hands-free powered tailgate. The 5-seater 3008 is fitted with 18″ Los Angeles wheels, while the 7-seater 5008 has 18″ Detroit wheels. Other than the wheel design, length and tailgate profile, the 2 look nearly identical.

Inside the vehicle, both feature Peugeot’s digital i-Cockpit technology which is made up of a 12.3″ digital head-up cluster display, a new 10″ HD capacitive touchscreen display, and a compact steering wheel for improved driving dynamics. There are also paddle shifters attached to the steering.

There are also 7 piano-styled toggle switches that provide direct access to the main comfort functions such as audio, air conditioning, navigation with voice command, vehicle settings, telephone, mobile applications and hazard warning lights so there is less scrolling of menus to perform. The infotainment system also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard feature.

Other features include wireless smartphone charging, mood lighting, drive mode selector, electric parking brake, leather seats and dual zone air conditioning (the 5008 includes a rear blower control). Furthermore, the 5008 has an additional 2 seats in the rear which are modular in nature i.e. they can be completely removed if required. Catered for families, the 5008 also has a larger centre console storage.
