Catch The Launch Of The All-New Land Rover Defender 110 On 21 October 2021

After getting spotted on the streets of KL / PJ decked in a camo livery, the all-new Land Rover Defender is finally getting an official launch. Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) has confirmed that the Land Rover Defender 110 will be launched on 21 October 2021. The launch will be streamed on its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/landrovermalaysia) at 11 am.

Land Rover Defende_RearThe new Land Rover Defender is a completely redesigned and reengineered 4×4 and remains the toughest and the ultimate off-roader for overland adventures. Besides the combination of off-road capability and ruggedness, it also offers a functional and practical approach for everyday city driving, making it the ultimate dual-purpose vehicle.

The new Defender features a distinctive silhouette that makes it easily recognisable. Land Rover’s designers re-envisioned familiar Defender trademarks of an upright stance and Alpine light windows in the roof. It also retains the OG’s side-hinged rear tailgate and externally mounted spare wheel. Awarded the 2021 World Car Design of the Year, the new Defender is built with minimal front and rear overhangs to provide class-leading ground clearance, breakover, approach and departure angles.

The new purpose-engineered vehicle architecture is based on a lightweight aluminium monocoque construction of the new D7x architecture to create the stiffest body structure that Land Rover has ever produced. It is claimed to be 3 times stiffer than the best body-on-frame design in the market.

Land Rover Defender_Interior_SeatsThe Defender 110 is available in 2 powertrain options i.e. a 2.0L with 300 PS (Metric Horsepower) and a 3.0L MHEV (Mild Hybrid EV) with 400 PS (Metric Horsepower).

Additionally, the new Defender has permanent all-wheel drive, a twin-speed automatic gearbox, a maximum towing capability of 3,500 kg and a maximum static roof load of 300 kg.

Some of the new features of the Defender include:

  • 3D Surround Camera with new 3D exterior perspectives alongside a 360° overhead view which makes manoeuvring easier. Further, off-road views, including the innovative ClearSight Ground View, provides the driver with more confidence when tackling challenging terrain. This feature displays a camera view of the front underside of the vehicle on the large central touchscreen which under normal circumstances, would not be visible to the driver.
  • Adaptive Dynamics with Electronic Air Suspension allows the driver to fine-tune the 4×4’s characteristics. The system’s adaptive dampers monitor body movements up to 500 times per second and responds almost instantaneously to optimise control and comfort in ensuring a composed and flat ride.
  • The Wade Programme is a first in a Land Rover. This programme in the Terrain Response raises the vehicle through the use of an electronic air suspension to provide a wading depth of up to 900 mm. The Wade Sensing feature uses ultrasonic sensors in the door mirrors to alert the driver visually and audibly if water approaches the vehicle’s maximum wading depth.
  • State-of-the-art new Pivi Pro infotainment system that is supported by British-based Meridian Sound System.

All Land Rover vehicles come with the Land Rover Care programme, which includes a 5-year warranty, 5 years of free service and 3 years of roadside assistance.
