Petron Malaysia Supports NGOs With Fuel Sponsorship
Petron Malaysia is supporting the efforts of several NGOs (non-governmental organisations) with fuel sponsorship. 3 NGOs i.e. Community Policing Malaysia, MERCY Malaysia and My Food Directory & Delivery COVID-19, have been chosen to receive fuel sponsorships from Petron totaling about RM60,000. The company is supporting these charitable organisations in their mission to bring medical relief and food assistance to communities.
“We are pleased to support these organisations who are at the forefront of helping frontliners, vulnerable communities, and affected families during this pandemic. We hope to ease some of their burdens by fueling their mission during this difficult time,” Petron General Manager, Puan Faridah Ali said of this effort.
Philanthropist Uncle Kuan from Community Policing Malaysia said, “Throughout the years, we have been able to help many people through our RM1 Ambulance and RM0.10 Taxi initiatives, where people in need only have to pay RM1 and RM0.10, respectively, for the services offered. We are grateful to Petron as these initiatives will not be possible without the sponsorship offered by the company.”
According to Uncle Kuan, the fuel sponsorship allows the organisation to reach more B40 families that need to go to hospitals and vaccination centres.
Additionally, since the MCO (Movement Control Order) last year, Petron had remained committed to supporting the humanitarian efforts of MERCY Malaysia, targeting communities and hospitals. MERCY is an established NGO that provides medical and health support to communities, charity organisations, and hospitals in Malaysia as well as overseas.
“MERCY Malaysia is committed to making a difference and extending our expertise in providing humanitarian services, as Malaysia’s resilience is being tested. We are thankful to Petron Malaysia, whose support has fueled our energy and spirits to continue providing medical aid to the healthcare system and provide essential needs to vulnerable communities,” shared Said Alhudzari Ibrahim, General Manager, Programme Operation of MERCY Malaysia.
Last but not least, My Food Directory & Delivery COVID-19 (MFDDC19) is the third organisation to benefit from Petron’s fuel donation. This is an organisation that started from a Facebook group movement of concerned citizens to provide food delivery services to B40 communities. MFDDC19 currently has over 90 volunteer drivers servicing 70 areas in Klang Valley.
“My Food Directory and Delivery C19 started operations in April 2021, bringing together 42,000 community members to help one another by supporting local businesses. In the spirit of #kitajagakita, our members have pulled together a supply chain to manage excess food, and meal distribution to our members who are hit hard by this pandemic for both M40 and B40. With Petron joining forces with us, we can provide further support to our 90+ independent drivers to carry out delivery duties to community members within Klang Valley,” said Sara Low, administrator of MFDDC19.
Faridah added, “We want to help these organisations bring down their cost and therefore reach more communities. We will continue to support the nation in its recovery and lighten the burden of those affected in any way we can”.
