New BMW R 1250 GS And R 1250 GS Adventure Include Special ’40 Years’ Livery
Along with its pair of scooters, BMW Motorrad Malaysia also introduced the updated BMW R 1250 GS and BMW R 1250 GS Adventure motorcycles. The new BMW GS sport bikes set the benchmark in delivering distinctive, powerful, and reliable propulsion with its famed two-cylinder boxer engine.
The legendary two-cylinder boxer engine has a displacement of 1,254 cm3 and produces 136 hp (100 kW) @ 7,750 rpm and maximum torque of 143 Nm @ 6,250 rpm. It is currently the most powerful BMW boxer engine in series production. Additionally, BMW ShiftCam technology allows for varying valve control timing and valve lift on the intake side, enabling the engine to provide superior power across the entire speed range while remaining extremely smooth, quiet and efficient.
Furthermore, the transmission and coupling for the BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure are integrated into the engine housing of the boxer engine for improved weight balance in a space- and weight-saving design. An anti-hopping mechanism is also implemented in the clutch system, tuned for sporty, ambitious rides. Also included is the BMW Gear Shift Assistant Pro and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), which ensures a high level of safety even in inclined positions.
While ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ riding modes are adapted to most conditions, a new ‘Pro’ riding mode adds the Dynamic, Dynamic Pro, Enduro and Enduro Pro riding modes as standard, and are customisable to your needs. Part of the ‘Pro’ riding mode is the dynamic engine brake control. This allows the rider additional room to avoid unstable riding conditions, which can occur when coasting or overrunning, or when excessive brake slip occurs at the rear wheel during downshifting.
Additionally, the electronic cruise control equips the new models to offer convenience for long-distance riding. Greater fuel efficiency is also achieved via the ‘Eco’ riding mode, which is now also available as standard.
Further, the inclusion of Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) automatically adjusts damping to road conditions as well as to riding manoeuvres. This result in higher safety, performance and comfort. The new BMW Integral ABS Pro also comes as standard, optimised for both on and off the road, while also adapted to the various riding modes. Higher braking stability and safety is ensured even in inclined positions.
On its appearance, the bikes have an X-shaped light icon on the new headlights. Complementing this are the LED daytime running light and cruising light. Standard fitment includes a chrome exhaust system, cross spoke wheels, and multi-functional rear indicator lights. Exclusive to the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure are auxiliary headlights and suitcase holder preparation for aluminium panniers and top box.
Functionally, the new bikes are also equipped with newly developed adaptive headlights with swivel function, allowing the low-beam of the full-LED headlights to adjust according to the curves of the road depending on inclined position and provide improved illumination.
Riding convenience comes in the form of a multi-functional instrument cluster with 6.5″ full colour TFT display which can be used in combination with integrated operation via the standard BMW Motorrad multi-controller to quickly access vehicle and connectivity functions. Media playback and telephone functions are conveniently accessible to ensure focus on the road, while navigation provides an added convenience in handling traffic conditions without additional navigational equipment. Vehicle-integrated connectivity is offered via the BMW Motorrad Connected app.
Moreover, a 12V on-board socket and a 5V USB-A socket enables quick charging of devices while riding. For added convenience, the Keyless Ride feature is also standard.
To celebrate 40 years of GS history, both the BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure are available in the unique ‘40 Years GS’ colour scheme. Inspired by the BMW R 100 GS, the ‘40 Years GS’ Edition features a striking combination of Blackstorm Metallic and Yellow. Standard colour offerings for both models include the Triple Black Style and Rallye Style.
