PROTON Makes Effort To Get Its Employees Vaccinated
PROTON is working to get its employees vaccinated as soon as possible. In a bid to help control the spread of the coronavirus, PROTON is assisting its staff who have registered by helping to expedite the process.
PROTON employees from the company’s base of operations in Tanjung Malim and Shah Alam who had opted in for the vaccination programme but are not yet vaccinated were notified of their appointments via the MySejahtera app. The administration of the first dose for these people will be spread out over several days.
The company is working with the federal and state authorities to hasten the vaccination process in its production plant in Tanjung Malim. It has worked with federal and state authorities to repurpose its sports complex in Tanjung Malim into an industry vaccine dispensing centre (PPVIN). This vaccination centre is expected to process a maximum volume of approximately 800 people daily. The PPVIN will be in operation for 6 days to ensure that the staff from PROTON as well as its vendors who are based there receive the vaccine.
The staff in Shah Alam however, will receive their vaccines at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC). This is due to PROTON’s own premises not having a large enough space to set up a temporary PPVIN that complies with all COVID-19 standard operating procedures.
“PROTON hopes that by vaccinating our staff, we will contribute to reducing the number of COVID-19 infections in Malaysia. With other companies undertaking similar initiatives, this should help in efforts to restart the automotive industry that has been put on hold by lockdown measures,” said Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer, PROTON.
This vaccination initiative started yesterday and will be repeated again in three weeks’ time for PROTON staff and PROTON-based vendors to receive their second dose. The company therefore expects most of its employees to be fully vaccinated by the first half of August 2021.
