Proton Saga & Iriz R3 Limited Edition, And Persona & Exora Black Edition Launched
PROTON has launched its Special Edition models comprising of two motorsport-inspired R3 Limited Edition models (Saga & Iriz) and two Black Edition (Persona & Exora). These four models are a limited production run to appeal to buyers looking for something other than run-of-the-mill looks. 
The Proton Saga and Iriz R3 Limited Edition are dressed in celebration of PROTON’s success in motorsports. R3 is its official motorsports division, and the R3 badge features prominently on the cars. R3 had also raced performance-tuned Saga and Iriz cars in the Sepang 1000km, as well as the Malaysia Championship Series in recent years.
Each R3-inspired car is painted black and adorned with the distinctive R3 livery used on PROTON’s race cars. The Iriz is fitted with 16″ R3 alloy wheels, while the Saga gets 15″ alloy wheels with matte grey finish. The sporty R3 body kit completes the exterior changes. The numbers ’82’ and ’83’ are homage to the winning R3 cars in the Sepang 1K race. On the inside, a unique black-yellow interior, leatherette seats and R3 carpet mats create a distinctive ambience with a sporty appeal.
A similarly themed Saga was released in conjunction with the company’s and model’s 35th anniversary in 2020. All 1,100 units of the Saga Anniversary Edition sold out within five days of launch.
Meanwhile, the Persona and Exora Black Edition are geared towards a sense of style and luxury (relative to price tag). Aside from their usual practical application and comfort, the Black Edition models get the black paint treatment, but with gold accents to subtly accentuate the bumpers and alloy wheels.
Inside, both come with black leatherette seats, and gold trim. The Persona also gets the black treatment for the headlining, while the Exora is fitted with an overhead monitor.
The on-the-road prices (without insurance, for Peninsular Malaysia) for the Proton Special Edition models are:
- Proton Saga R3 Limited Edition: RM42,300
- Proton Iriz R3 Limited Edition: RM52,900
- Proton Persona Black Edition: RM54,700
- Proton Exora Black Edition: RM67,800
These prices are valid until 30 June 2021 with the sales tax exemption.
