Perodua Contributes Cash And Supplies To Support COVID-19 Fight
Perodua has joined the effort to fight the COVID-19 pandemic with a contribution of cash and medical supplies. The company has contributed RM2 million to the National Disaster Management Agency’s (NADMA) COVID-19 fund. It additionally donated 150 mattresses, 200 pillows, 105 boxes of mineral water, 15 industrial fans and 300 pairs of rubber boots to the Sungai Buloh Hospital to support the ongoing fight against the global pandemic.
Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, presented the contribution to Malaysian Prime Minister, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the Prime Minister’s Office. According to media reports, the NADMA-COVID 19 fund was launched by the Prime Minister on 11 March 2020 with the aim of aiding citizens who were most vulnerable to the impact of the Movement Control Order (MCO), which was enforced on 18 March.
“This war against COVID-19 is our shared responsibility. The funds and items contributed by Perodua are part of our ongoing efforts to ensure Malaysia will recover as fast as it can,” Dato’ Zainal said.
Based on reports, the NADMA-COVID-19 fund’s target groups include the unemployed and other Malaysians affected by the MCO. The government also recently introduced the Prihatin Rakyat Stimulus Package to further help Malaysians impacted by COVID-19.
“We thank the government for these measures. Perodua, in solidarity with all Malaysians, hopes this pandemic will be resolved in the shortest time and with minimal infections and fatalities. To those who have lost loved ones to COVID-19, we extend our sincere condolences,” Dato’ Zainal said.
“As for Perodua, we have also directed all our staff, the greater automotive supply chain and our authorised dealers to pay keen attention to their staff’s needs and welfare during this MCO. To this end, we are monitoring the situation closely to ensure that our ecosystem’s livelihoods, like wage, benefits and especially employment, are not impacted,” he added.
“We are committed to the social distancing measures enforced by the authorities to ensure the spread of the virus is contained.”
“To our customers in particular and all Malaysians in general, please stay indoors and stay healthy,” Dato’ Zainal said.
