2020 Mazda MX-5 Open For Booking In Malaysia; Manual Transmission Option Available
The 2020 Mazda MX-5 RF roadster is now open for booking at all Mazda authorised dealerships in Malaysia. The iconic roadster will be fully imported from Japan and will have a RM266,154 price tag. The MX-5 is an iconic vehicle with more than a million units produced and is the Guinness World Record holder for the best-selling two-seater sports car. For over 30 years, the front mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout has evolved to fit the ever-changing customer preferences.
Coming standard with a 2.0L Skyactiv-G petrol engine (181 hp @ 7,000 rpm; 205 Nm @ 4,000 rpm), the MX-5 RF also includes a manual transmission option for those who like to work the left foot. The transmissions available are a Skyactiv-MT 6-speed manual or Skyactiv-Drive 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
The MX-5 RF’s compact and lightweight physique promises agile driving dynamics as well as outstanding power-to-weight ratio. The Jinba-Ittai sense of oneness between the owner and vehicle which Mazda dials into all its models should also provide for some fun driving.
In line with the premium positioning path of the brand, the 2020 Mazda MX-5 RF receives an updated Mazda badging and font design.The RF in its name stands for Retractable Fastback, which is essentially a targa top. It has a rigid roof, instead of a soft top, that retracts to the rear while the buttresses on either side remain fixed in place.
While Mazda is maintaining the nimble nature of the car, it has added more equipment into the 2020 MX-5 RF. It is now equipped with modern conveniences like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, accessible via the MAZDA CONNECT Infotainment display, as well as ISOFIX mounts on the passenger seat which also has an airbag cut-off function.
Further, the 2020 MX-5 RF adds more i-Activsense safety features including Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Smart City Brake Support and Driver Attention Alert.
Like all new Mazda vehicles purchased from official channels, the MX-5 RF is covered by a 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty + 5-Years Free Maintenance, according to manufacturer’s standards and inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants. Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
