Perodua Axia Enters The Seychelles

The compact Perodua Axia has officially entered the Seychelles. This small car marks the brand’s debut in the island nation that is also a popular tourist destination.

We believe that this will give us greater prospects for future markets,” he said. The Seychelles is an archipelago made up of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, north of Madagascar and east of Kenya.

In Seychelles, the Perodua Axia will be offered in four variants – E MT, G AT, SE and AV at promotional prices of SCR235,000 (RM71,500*), SCR265,000 (RM80,600*), SCR275,000 (RM83,700*) and SCR290,000 (RM88,300*); SCR = Seychellois Rupee.

Perodua_Axia_SeychellesThe Axia is powered by the 1.0L 1KR-VE engine with intelligent variable valve timing regardless of variant. The engine is paired to either a five-speed manual transmission (E MT variant) or four-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission.

Sales and after-sales services will be handled by official Perodua distributor, SF Hybrid Motors Pty Ltd.

“Perodua and SF Hybrid Motors recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to market Perodua models in the Seychelles to private and fleet buyers,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Perodua’ is also in another African island (Mauritius) where it had introduced the Alza, Axia and Bezza, as well as the previous generation Myvi. The company has sold over 3,000 vehicles since 1996 in this island nation. According to Dato’ Dr Zahari, the company is working with its partner, Daihatsu, to explore and expand Perodua’s export market network.

He added that the Seychelles is a popular destination for both European and African tourists and this will open more export opportunities through brand exposure.
