Mercedes-Benz S560e Plug-in Hybrid Limousine Launched In Malaysia

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the electrified version of its flagship S-class limousine for the local market. Branded under its ‘EQ’ electric mobility range, the Mercedes-Benz S560e is a plug-in hybrid featuring a new generation plug-in hybrid system that is more efficient, with improved power and electric range.

With an estimated retail price of RM658,888, the locally produced S560e takes over the flagship hybrid mantle from the discontinued non-plug-in S400h.

Moving the S560e into a comfortable glide is a 3.0L V6 spark-ignition engine with 367 hp and a 90 kW electric motor (122 hp). Official 0 – 100 km/h sprint time is tagged at 5 seconds. Helping transfer power to the wheels is the 9G‑TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. Consisting of the torque converter, clutch and electric motor, they are housed in the innovative and compact hybrid drive unit that integrates and connects the clutch, torsional vibration damper and torque converter lock-up clutch within the rotor of the specially designed electric motor which was developed together with Bosch as part of the EM‑motive joint venture. The new 13.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack has increased the limo’s all-electric range up to 50 km. The battery can be fully charged via a wallbox charger 1.8 hours; it takes 6 hours for a full charge via the domestic / home charger.

As the flag-bearer, this limousine is fitted with Nappa Leather, the Exclusive trim package and high-gloss burr walnut wood trim.

It is also equipped with the Chauffeur package that offers a host of adjustment options for the perfect seating position. The Chauffeur package a.ka. Boss mode for the rear passenger comprises the Chauffeur position front passenger seat, Easy Adjust luxury head restraint for the front passenger and footrest that is power-retractable on the front passenger side. It also features high-end specifications such as the pre-entry climate control that sets the various temperature settings (air conditioning, heater, heated seats, steering wheel heater, armrest heaters, and optional seat ventilation) for maximum comfort prior to setting off.
