Kuala Lumpur, 13 May 2019 – Every year without fail, hundreds of thousands of cars are on the highways and trunk roads for the Hari Raya balik kampung season. And every year without fail, we will see, hear or read news about fatal road accidents during this period. These are unnecessary losses during a time when we should be celebrating, and not mourning the loss of loved ones. A large number of those on the road during this period are families with children, who also become needless statistics. Which is why Perodua is taking seriously its child car seat safety campaign initiative. More than 4 out of 10 cars on the road are Perodua cars and naturally they are very concerned with the accident numbers.
Because of this, Perodua is stepping up its child car safety initiative ahead of the mandatory usage of child seats in vehicles starting in 2020. In order to encourage more Perodua owners who have young children to keep their children safe during the travel season, Perodua is offering its GearUp ISOFIX child car seats at promotional price of RM660 for the Infant seat and RM780 for the Toddler seat. These are discounted from the regular prices of RM785 and RM975 respectively. This offer is valid from now until 30 June 2019, and it is a small price to pay for the safety of your beloved child.
“The general lack of compliance by Malaysian motorists with regard to child car seat usage is frightening to say the least, as children are the most vulnerable occupants in a moving vehicle,” said Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd Vice-President Datuk Ahmad Suhaimi Hashim, who is also Chairman of the Perodua Safety Committee.
Perodua had in October 2017, launched long-term safety campaigns on the importance of using turn signals, wearing seat belts, not using mobile devices while driving, and also restraining children in child seats. They also launched the GearUp ISOFIX child car seats as part of the safety campaign. The Infant seat is designed for infants weighing up to 13 kg and is available in red or grey. The Toddler seat is for children weighing between 9 – 36 kg and is offered in red or black.
Perodua will continue to run targeted educational, awareness and promotional campaigns throughout Ramadan on the importance of using child car seats, to spread the message before the balik kampung season.

Additionally, Perodua is also running an after-sales campaign which offers 50% off labour charges when you spend RM170 and above, before tax and discount, in one receipt. This offer is available at all authorised Perodua service centres nationwide on 14, 16, 21 and 23 May (1pm- 5pm), 27-31 May (8am-5pm) and 3 June (8am-5pm).
