‘Michelin Safe On The Road’ Safety Campaign Begins In Time For Peak Travel Period
Michelin Malaysia has started the ‘Michelin Safe On The Road’ (MSOR) safety campaign giving it and road users sufficient time to learn about mobility safety before the peak travel period in June. Michelin, as the world’s leading tyre manufacturer, is committed to highlight the importance of tyre maintenance as a road safety practice.
Throughout the month of May, which coincides with the Ramadan period, Michelin will send its mobile truck roadshow and experts to various locations to reach out to vehicle owners. “Safety is synonymous with Michelin. This is an important aspect of our societal commitment, whether by providing tyres with uncompromising quality or relentlessly initiating road safety programmes. Malaysia recorded its highest number of road accidents ever last year and this urgently calls for greater road safety awareness. As the festive season approaches, the Michelin Truck will go from place to place to remind the public that tyres, being the first line of defense on the road, are key to ensuring their own safety during their journey,” said Michelin Malaysia’s Commercial Director for B2B, Muhammad Arya Subrata.
From 3 – 29 May 2019, the MSOR Truck with its in-truck safety education, as well as Michelin tyre experts, will visit various locations to provide complimentary tyre checks for air pressure, tread wear, overall tyre condition, as well as share information on tyre care to vehicle owners. Some road accidents can be attributed to improper tyre care. Fuel consumption can also be severely affected by improperly inflated tyres, so those who care about how much money they can save on fuel should take heed.
The Michelin roadshow will be at each venue from 11 am – 8 pm to help motorists evaluate the condition of their tyres and provide advice on how to prolong their tyres’ lifespan. Motorists who stop by the roadshow will also receive car service vouchers and a Petron card worth RM50 when they spend in a Michelin Expert Centre.
Last year, Michelin conducted over 1,100 tyre checks in more than 26 locations nationwide. This year, Michelin is working with longstanding partners, Petron and Tesco, as well as new partner Aeon Big, to reach out to more motorists across the country.
“We want to reach out to more local communities this year so the MSOR Truck will make pitstops at more locations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor in addition to Perak, Penang and Johor Bahru. Increasing our touchpoints is instrumental to spreading greater awareness on tyre safety and improving our safety on the road,” Muhammad Arya added.
